Plans for my upcoming annual solo holiday season trip to Walt Disney World. Monday, Nov. 27 – Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006. (I’ll try to avoid using initials because I don’t like to read them myself.)

Cast of characters: Me. (A 73 year old male who believes you are never too old to enjoy a visit with the Mouse.)

Brief outline of itinerary:

Day 1. (Monday): Depart at 6:00 am from home town (Tallahassee) to Port Orleans French Quarter. (Four or five hour drive.) Have requested a non smoking, king bed, river view room, in building five. After getting into my room with luggage, I plan to visit Epcot for the remainder of the day. Will not be driving anywhere once I’ve parked my car at the French Quarter. Don’t like to drive when on vacation at Disney. Have dinner reservation at Le Cellier Steakhouse. Will skip the Candlelight Processional this year, since I saw it last year.

Day 2. (Tuesday): Bus to the Magic Kingdom at opening, spending the entire day at this park. Have list of attractions I’d like to do/see, and meal reservations at the Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch), and Tony’s Town Square Restaurant (dinner). I also have a ticket for Mickey’s Christmas Party, and hope to meet some DISers at the Tomorrowland Bridge just before the 9:30 fireworks.

Day 3 (Wednesday):I will spend this day at Epcot enjoying most of the attractions in this park. I have meal reservations at the Coral Reef (lunch), and at the San Angel Inn (dinner)

Day 4 (Thursday): Entire day at the Disney-MGM Studios. I have a personal itinerary ready for this park too, with lunch planned at the Flatbread Grill, and a dinner reservation at the Brown Derby. Since I have seen Fantasmic several times in the past, I’ll use that evening time to see the Christmas lights and ride one of my favorites, “The Tower of Terror.”

Day 5 (Friday) First part of the day at the Animal Kingdom, where I have a spot reserved to see the 10:00 am performance of the new Nemo musical. I plan to have lunch at the Pizzafari since this park is short on table service restaurants. I’ve ridden Expedition Everest in the past, and look forward to at least a couple of spins on this excellent coaster this trip. Leaving the Animal Kingdom at about 3:00 pm, I’ll take a brief break in my room and return to the Magic Kingdom for my second Christmas Party at about 5:00 pm No dinner reservation this time, so I’ll probably hit Cosmic Rays for a bite to eat. Again, I’ll be at the Tomorrow Land Bridge just before the 9:30 fireworks.

Day 6 (Saturday): My visit to Walt Disney World complete, I’ll grab breakfast at the French Quarter food court and head for home. I should be back home in Tallahassee by about 3:00 or so.

Notes: The only time I have planned a break during the days above is on Day five. I plan to be at the parks before opening time each day, and do no park hopping except for Day five, when I will enjoy my second Christmas Party. (Probably use the first party for riding, and the second for parades and shows.) In deciding which parks to visit on which days I kept in mind the recommendations of "The Unofficial Guide," and made sure to avoid Extra Magic Hour days. I also scheduled myself a great deal more time in Epcot and the Magic Kingdom than the other two parks, simply because it always seems to take me longer to cover Epcot and the Magic Kingdom.

I’ll post a trip report in about a week or so after visiting The Mouse. I'll make the trip fit onto one post, so it will not be necessary to hunt around for subsequent days.

Hey Karnak...we will be at POFQ with you....so if you get lonely look for me, Spider and Aviva :) ! We will be at AK-Mon, Epcot-Tues, MK-Wed, MGM afternoon-Thurs and not sure Fri...all depends.

Sounds like you have it all planned out.

Oh and we are driving over from St Pete, but actually live outside of Fort Lauderdale...got to love the 90 minute drive instead of the 3 1/2 hour ride.

Ooh, solo trips are so nice! Hope you have a great one- can't wait to hear about it when you get back!
