Day 6--Tuesday, December 9, 2003
I woke up early to finish packing and get ready for my last hours of my trip. I wanted to be at Disney/MGM Studios for early entry so I could do my traditional last day thrill ride marathon. I ran down and grabbed a cinnamon bun from the Boardwalk Bakery, and called bell services to pick up my luggage.
I was going to walk to Disney/MGM Studios, but the Friendship boat was there when I walked outside, so I decided to save myself some walking and take the boat. The boat got to Disney/MGM Studios right at 8:00 a.m. I was hoping to get two rides in on both the Rock 'N Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror, but soon found out that wasn't going to happen.
As soon as I entered the gate, I walked directly to the Rock 'N Roller Coaster. I grabbed a fast pass for later, and jumped in line. Within a few minutes of getting in line, an announcement was made that the ride was experiencing technical difficulties. I decided to get out of the line. As I walked away from the Rock 'N Roller Coaster, I told people heading that way that it was shut down, and they didn't know how long it would be closed.
I went to the Tower of Terror, and got in line. I walked right up to the pre-show area, but there was a long line after the pre-show area because they only had one side open. After riding the Tower of Terror, I went to see how long the line was to ride again, and it was already snaking down to the front gate because the Rock 'N Roller Coaster was still down, so I decided to skip a second ride, as I had two more parks and four more thrill rides that I wanted to hit by noon.
On my way out, I stopped to speak with a Rock 'N Roller Coaster cast member to see if there was any chance that it would open up in the next few minutes. She told me that it was very unlikely that would be open within the next hour, so I made the decision to head to the Magic Kingdom to continue my thrill ride marathon. Another ride on the Rock 'N Roller Coaster would have to wait for another trip.
I walked to the bus stop and lingered in the area between the bus stops for the Contemporary and the Ticket & Transportation Center, deciding to take whichever bus came first. I knew that I could walk from the Contemporary, ro take a monorail from the Ticket & Transportation Center, and it didn't matter which way I went to me.
The Ticket & Transportation Center bus came first, so I climbed on board. I then got on the express monorail to the Magic Kingdom. The word express should not have been used to describe this ride. It was 9:00a.m. and they were taking a monorail out of service. We were stuck on the track for about 15 minutes while monorail orange left the tracks. I was a bit annoyed because precious minutes of my marathon day were ticking away.
When I finally arrived at the Magic Kingdom, I hopped on the train to Frontierland. I road on Splash Mountain, and then Big Thunder Mountain. I decided to skip Space Mountain, and went to see Mickey's Philharmagic instead. I had really enjoyed this movie the other day, and thought a second viewing would be fun. And it was.
I then headed back to the monorail to go to Epcot. I made not of the Fast Pass return time and the single riders line wait time at Test Track as we road past it. Once I got through security, I walked directly to Mission Space and jumped in the single riders line. I pretty much walked right onto the ride.
I then went to Test Track, and got in the single riders line. Test Track was experiencing technical difficulties. Our car went through the entire ride without any in car audio or video, which made for a pretty boring ride. The vehicle stopped for about five minutes after the high speed loop.
After riding Test Track, I went to grab some lunch at Nine Dragons. I got pot stickers and General Gau's chicken, my favorite dishes at the restaurant. Both were delicious. They were served piping hot and fresh. I really enjoyed my lunch.
I then walked to the American Adventure so that I could catch American Vybe. I had caught the tail end of one of their sets in August, and had forgotten about them until I looked at the entertainment schedule. I made a point of fitting them into my last day, and they didn't disappoint. They are just so energetic, and harmonize beautiful. They performed "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree," "Santa Baby," "True Colors," and "Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog." I really loved watching them, and look forward to seeing them again on future trips.
I then went in search of a jacket I wanted to buy, but never got. The times when I saw it in my size, it just wasn't convienent for me to carry it around, and when I was ready to buy it, they didn't have my size. So, I came home jacketless, and now have the jacket on order.
I then watched Off Kilter for a few minutes before starting the walk back to the Boardwalk to meet my Tiffany Towncar driver at 2:15. Snow White was posing for pictures at the International Gateway, so I stopped for a picture.
I then walked back to the Boardwalk. I stopped along the side of the lake to take a look at the Yacht & Beach Club and Boardwalk for a few minutes. I never get tired of looking at those resorts. I could sit and look at them for hours. I smiled as Iooked at Jellyrolls, remembering all of the fun times I had there during my trip.
I finished the walk to the Boardwalk, got my luggage, and met my Tiffany Towncar for the ride to the airport. In just a few hours, I would be back home in Boston to see the two feet of snow that had fallen while I was gone, and dreaming of being back in the warm Florida air.
