Day 2--Thursday, December 12, 2002
We started the day with breakfast at Donald's Breakfasosaurus. The characters were dressed up for the holidays. Goofy, my favorite character, was wearing a great hat with Christmas ornaments hanging from it. The food was decent but nothing spectacular. I really liked the hash browns, and I was thrilled to see Krispy Kremes (coming soon to my home town) on the buffet table. I didn't like the way they had the characters all working in the same area. We had to wait a good half hour before any characters reached our table, and then they all came within ten minutes of each other. I like it better when they are more spread out.

After breakfast, we began touring Dinoland. Joe played in the Boneyard while Carolyn and I took turns riding Dinosaur. After riding Dinosaur, Carolyn decided to let Joe ride on it. He loved it, and was laughing throughout the ride. He couldn't wait to ride on it again. We then went to ride on the Primeval Whirl. Carolyn and Joe sat on one side of the car, and I road by myself on the other half of the car. If you are riding on one half of the car, be prepared when the car starts spinning. I went flying across the seat and wound up with a couple of bruises. We then went back to ride Dinosaur again.

We then went to catch the Festival of the Lion King, which I think is the best show in the theme parks. I love watching the parade of animals walking into the theatre, and love singing along and clapping to the music. The monkeys are entertaining and hysterical.

After the show, we immediately made a beeline for the character trails so that I could meet Santa Goofy, which I was looking forward to. I had my picture taken with Santa Goofy (and wound up sending out as my Christmas card). We then went to meet Minnie Mouse.

I am not a big fan of the Animal Kingdom (I'm just not an animal person), so I left Carolyn and Joe to go to Disney/MGM Studios to do a Rock 'N Roller Coaster/Tower of Terror Marathon. I rode on each of them three times. I got to experience some of the new special effects they are adding to the TofT, as well as a new drop sequence. I don't want to go into all of the details about the new TofT because I don't want to ruin the surpries for everyone, but in a word, it is awesome. It's a lot more thrilling now. It's now my favorite attraction at MGM.

After the RnR/TofT marrathon, I grabbed a bit at Pizza Planet (the Woddy Special), and road the Great Movie Ride. I was sitting in the front row right next to the tour guide, so it was fun to chat with the tour guide and the cowboy who hijacked our car. The ride stopped in the Casablanca room for about 10 minutes, and we just sat there and listened to our tour guide tell us lots of movie trivia.

That evening, we were off to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which I dubbed Mickey's Very Rainy Christmas Party, as there was a steady downpour throughout the night. They cancelled the parades and most of the shows because of the rain. The fireworks did go off, but they were disappointing because of the rain and the overcast skies.

We went to have our family photo taken. Most people were taking off their ponchos and fixing their hair for the pictures. We decided to leave our ponchos on so we could remember just how wet we were at Mickey's Party. The picture came out great.

Since we were already wet, we decided to ride Splash Mountain. Joe loved it so much that we rode it three times without getting out of our log. On the third ride, Splash Mountain broke down. We were stuck on Splash Mountain for about 30 minutes. We were about six logs from being at the end of the ride. We were right at the end of the where they blow air on you after the last scene, which wasn't a very fun place to be when you are soaked to the bone. We were one of the lucky ones. We were inside. Some people were stuck outside in the rain.

When we finally got off Splash Mountain, we started to head out of the park (stopping for cocoa and cookies along the way). I stopped at City Hall to see if there was anything we could do about our tickets because of the rain, and a cast member told me that we could write a letter, send in our tickets, and we may get compensation for our tickets, but no guarantee. We were disappointed, but we wouldn't be disappointed about this in a couple of days.

Then, we were off to our hotel for some warmth, dry clothes, and a good night's sleep.

You must have went to MVMCP on the 5 - I had friends there that night - other than that - a good day for all - thanks for posting!

Actually, we went to MVMCP on the 12th. It hit me when I was typing in the third day that I didn't add the dates to my trip report--silly me. I went back and added them in afterwards.

Karen

I TOTALLY agree with you about the ToT...rode it 3 times in a row and never had the same experience, even when we were in the same elevator twice in a row!!!

Great trip report so far!!! :Pinkbounc
