Me (Karen)--A 30-year-old 10 time Disney veteran who took care of all of the planning for the trip. I am famous for my RnR/ToT and Mountain marathons.
Carolyn--My long lost cousin who I met for the first time in March. She celebrated her birthday during our trip.
Joe--Carolyn's six year-old-son.

Resort
Port Orleans French Quarter--This is my favorite hotel on Disney property. I ove the atmosphere, and the compact size of this resort. I find the other moderate resorts too spread out for my liking--I hate being far from the food court and the bus stops.

We had a great room room location. I requested a room near the food court and bus stop because of a painful foot condition, and we were assigned room 4326. It was a corner room on the third floor a minute from the bus and the food court. The room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint about our room was that the door lock was sticking. The lock didn't catch on it's own so we had to be make sure the door actually locked when leaving the room. Maintenance came up and oiled it, but it was still sticking.

For the most part, the noise level was low. We rarely heard our neighbors. The only noise problem we had was during the first night. The hotel was ful of cheerleaders and football players, and they were running across the walkway in front of our room and screaming until midnight. They settled down later in the week.

The other thing I noticed was that the building 4 was in need of a paint job. There was a lot of chipped paint on the railings. I have never seen an area in so need of a paint job anywhere on Disney property. I was surpised Disney let if get that bad. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Port Orleans French Quarter and will definitely stay there again.

Day One--Wednesday, December 11th, 2002
We arrived at Logan Airport in Boston at about 9:00am for our 10:40 flight to Orlando. Our flight was full, and there were two groups of cheerleaders on the flight. The flight was extremely loud, and the kids were constantly running up and down the aisle. We were sitting in front of a family who seemed to enjoy kicking the back of our seats. It was a long three hours.

We arrived in Orlando at about 2:00pm, and took a Tiffany Town Car to the Port Orleans. I can't say enough good things about Tiffany Towncar. This was my third time using Tiffany, and I have always had friendly and prompt drivers. Asfar was our driver, and he was waiting for us when we arrived at baggage claim. He helped us with our luggage, and answered any questions we had. He was particuarly patient with Joe, a typical inquisitive kindergarten student).

After checking in and getting settled in the hotel, we took the boat to Downtown Disney. We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. We started out with some yummy mozzerella sticks. I had an awesome Buffalo Chicken Salad. Carolyn got a shrimp pizza that she was was really good. Joe got chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese.

After dinner, Carolyn took Joe to Disney Quest, and I went to do some shopping. After dropping $250 on Christmas ornaments (mostly as gifts for my family), and $60 on scrapbooking materials, I headed over to meet Carolyn and Joe at Disney Quest. Joe wasn't tall enough to ride on Cyber Space Mountain, so he helped his mom design a coaster, while I designed my own level 5 coaster. Joe got a kick watching our reaction to the coaster on the black and white monitor. I hammed it up for the camera, making faces at Joe and Carolyn throughout the ride. We played most of the major attractions at Disney Quest, and then headed back to the hotel to get a good nights sleep.

You are off to a good start - well except for the other passengers - but hey - you are in WDW - thanks for posting!

Nothing like wild cheerleaders and kicking kids to make that flight "fly" by. I'm sure it was a LONG 3 hours. Hope your flight home is a bit quieter.
