What does everybody think of this case?
I think its shocking, especially when I saw the computer reconstruction of the flat where she was held for 24 days and pretty much kept on a lead like a dog to only access certain rooms.
Also, the fact her mother had been drugging her over a long period of time to keep her subdued.

"Matthews, 33, and her co-accused Michael Donovan, 40, were found guilty of kidnap, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.
The pair have been warned they face "substantial" jail terms when they are sentenced later. "

Personally...I hope they do get substantial prison sentances. Anyone who is willing to kidnapp their own child for a measly £50,000 reward is, as far as I am concerned, the scum of the earth.

The one good thing to come out of this is that Shannon and her siblings will now not have to grow up in that environment. Shannon is said to be happier than she's ever been with her foster family and I really hope that's also the case for her brothers and sisters too.

I must admit that I was completely taken in by Karen Matthews, I found her appeals totally convincing. As the officer in charge of the investigation said after today.s verdict she is pure evil.

Maybe, but she is still their mother. I can't begin to imagine how rejected those children will feel - either now or later. If there is one person we should be able to rely upon to care for and to love us it's our mother.

You all feel the same as I do about it then. It goes against everything I think you should feel about your children, as a parent.
I actually think as well, that it wasn't all about the money - I think she was enjoying the attention from the media - although I understand the Police had their suspiscions from the early days

Tragic experience for that poor little girl but there was clearly something not right when she didn't go straight home after being 'found'.

I think he is trying to get full custody of her. Good luck to him.

I always thought there was something not right with Karen Matthews, even more so when SHannon was found & didn't want to go back to her mother.

I hope they get long sentences.
