Kapalua Bay in Hawaii

Any body stay at the Kapalua Bay Resort in Maui from the Concierge Collection? What activities do they have on the property? How are the pools?

I sent my son and his new wife there for their honeymoon in August. At that time they were running a special where you got 1 free night if you booked 5. We booked 6, so they got a weeks stay. The both said the resort was beautiful. I will ask them the specific questions you had regarding the pooland activities and post again as soon as possible.

From my perspecitve it certainly was not a good value for my points, but they were married on a Saturday and weren't able to get to Maui until Monday so that messed things up for doing a trade at another timeshare there.

I know there were plenty of activities in the area but not sure which ones were affiliated with the hotel and which were independent of it.

They both said it was a real long flight for 1 week and if they were ever to return they would not go for less than 2 weeks. I told them that trip would NOT be on my points!

I have to agree on Conceirge hotels in Hawaii not really being a good value for use of points. When you consider that a 1 bedroom exchange through II would be 160 points for a week, you could get two weeks for 320 points, where 1 week at Kapalua would be about 378 points. I also agree that 1 week is NOT long enough for a trip to Hawaii. We never go for less than 2, and last time went for nearly 3 weeks.

On the other hand, my copy of Travel and Leisure magazine arrived over the weekend with their annual list of the 500 best hotels in the world, and Kapalua Bay made the list. So it's not just a place to stay.

It got a 75.60, which puts it kind of far down the list. But its location score of 92.05 is way up there.
