Kapalua Bay Hotel Special Deal Strategy

Planning a trip to Maui next summer, staying at Kapalua Bay for 10 nights, using points. From these boards, I notice that several people have mentioned getting special deals when using points, like free nights and free breakfasts. I haven't actually made my reservation yet, since the CM told me that they were really easy to get. I'm wondering if there's a strategy to get the special deals. Planning to get the lowest point room, since we are staying so long. I'm wondering if you have to get an ocean view room to be eligible for the extras. I called Kapalua and they don't have the special promotions for next summer available yet. Do you think I need to wait until that happens to have a chance to get some extra goodies. Would love to get the free breakfasts - sounds like a great way to save on meal costs. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

A friend of mine stayed at the Kapalua Bay Hotel; and got an extra night because he was booked for more than 10 nights.
He also got upgraded to an oceanview from a garden view. Not sure if it is a sure thing for everyone. Good luck!
