Kanye West is a total.....

He didn't do anything that he hasn't done at multiple award shows in the past. This is what... the third or 4th VMA he's thrown a public hissy fit at, not to mention the Grammy's in 2005, the AMA in 2004 and various european award shows. He had a big backlash all those times as well and especially with his Bush comments post Katrina. But after his last VMA tantrum, he still got a 5 minute spot on the Emmy's out of it (a joke skit about it starring him and featuring his music) and a skit (playing himself) on SNL where he was also brought in as the musical guest, still had a high selling album and sold out tour that year.

IF (and thats a big if) Jay Leno cancels him tonight I would agree with you. But the show films in just a few hours and that hasn't happened yet. Not only is he currently still performing... he's performing with the top selling hip hop performer of all time and Rihanna in her first post-Chris Brown televised performance.

More likely he'll pop up in a few places (starting tonight) and give fake apologies, make fun of himself, keep it fresh in everyone's minds just in time for his new tour to go on sale. He doesn't care how "old fuddy-duddys" are talking about it, just that you are. Because as long as you are talking about it he is in the spotlight and it's not like you were going to buy tickets to his show or shell out $10 bucks to download his album anyways. The people who will do that are already used to him, used to this ridiculous behavior and buy what he's selling in spite (or sadly because) of it.

ETA Watching NBC and the newscaster just did a promo for Leno Tonight specifically advertising Kanye "fresh from the VMA's." Yeah, this is hurting him alright.

Yeah, but ranting about adults or even the president just makes you crazy and drives up sales.

Abusing a kitten, puppy or a child, even a teenager - not so much. Even the most jaded don't tolerate that. Katy Perry tweeted that "it was like you just squashed a kitten"

Depending on when Leno films, it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the groundswell calling for the boycott of tonight's show and its sponsors.

I have heard at least 5 stations in my area, and not all country stations, call for a boycott tonight if West remains a guest. The midday local news even carried a story about the groundswell of hatred.

This quote from the Leno boards says it all:
"I've long been able to ignore Kanye as an attention-seeking loudmouth, but he stepped over the line by bullying and embarrassing a teenage girl. This man BADLY needs to learn what most responsible adults have learned long ago: there are repercussions for your actions."
http://boards.nbc.com/nbc/index.php?showtopic=830641&st=120

By attacking a child, he has overstepped the public's tolerance.

Apparently some of his fans are as wackadoodle as he is. Why am I not shocked?

As posted on a fansite:
Kanye apologized && such, but why?? Becuase he told the effn truth?? Taylor swift singz like a crying cat on most of her songz so why she act like she was shocked someone called her out on her ****. Her and Miley Sick-rus suck soooo bad. They just country and got a moeny so of cource their going to get publicity!! They pay off the flippn Papparazzi and Buy their own flippn C.Ds. And if Miley didnt have a flippn show, she sure as hell wouldnt have any damn FANS. So i actually applaud Kanye on his Honesty, however i disagree with his dicision to apologize and his taste in music if he likes Taylor Swift. And Beyonce and her FLippn publicity stunt. Calling swift back on stage. Girl Boo!! u were preganant at 15, so of cource at 17 u were tryna cherish everything that happened...cuz if you had of had that baby...your *** wudda been a lame one legged Mule. So stick to singing becuase FAKENESS isnt your talent... So kill it. If you wanted to make a diffrnece , maybe you should have Joined Politics

Gives me a good indication of the uh....how to say it politely..the *demographics* of his fans/support base.

Michael Vick. Unfortunately, I hear the sales of his jerseys are skyrocketing.
:sad2:

Sounds like this particular fan is definitely uneducated to say the least.

Let's just imagine that a white man did that to a black woman:rolleyes1

The headlines would be screaming racism.

So sick of the double standard.

Oh--And to complete the sentence:: Kanye West is the product of a mother who didn't care enough to teach her son manners and a father (who was a Black Panther) that taught him to have a perpetual "whites are bad" chip on his shoulder.

:thumbsup2. This is the first thing I thought.

I wouldn't call Taylor a child though. The second you turn 18 you are an adult. You can help chose the leader of the free world and go to war, you are an adult.

You have a point. But he was censored for several years before the public "forgave" him.

It will remain to be seen if the public forgives and forgets this latest transgression or it grows over the next few weeks.

Taylor is not a child, she is legally an adult and also a professional... and she handled herself as such. We don't need to diminish her to make him sound worse. What he did was bad enough, even to an adult.

The articles on Yahoo news right now are comparing West's appearance tonight to the Hugh Grant appearance that saved Leno against Letterman years ago... basically this is talk show gold. And NBC is still promoting it right now. If the outrage was that bad wouldn't commericals and news announcements have been pulled?

The show should start filming around 2pm PST, so it'll probably be on the internet by 4 at the latest if he is/was cut.

Some of the posts on the NBC site and other news sites in support of Swift and calling for boycott of Kanye are pretty disturbing too. I wouldn't go judging large groups of people on single internet whacko comments.

She is still a teenager. And I agree, her response to questions about it was so much more mature and adult than anything West did.

Interesting tidbit though - somebody just e-mailed me a link that is reporting that West yanked the apology from his blog at 2pm ET. I don't read his blog, so have no idea if what is being reported is correct, but if it has recently been removed, I wonder what prompted that? :cool2:

oops..should have included one of the links to the reports that he removed his apology from the blog. Yeah- real sincere..

My first question is how does MTV do VIDEO awards when they don't show videos?!?

Personally, I think he was right - Beyoncee (forgive me if I spell it wrong) had a much better song/video in my mind. However, what a ********** for doing that!!!! I'd be so upset if I were Beyoncee! I feel badly for both women involved.

The words no-talent *** clown come to mind. If it wasn't for his bad behavior, no one would pay attention to him.

Naive me....I really thought we would have heard about a cancellation by now. Jay has always been a class act, but we all know he can do what he wants. So it's his moral decision to keep Kanye in the lineup. Can't blame the top brass at NBC for this one, it was up to Jay. Apparently he thought this would be "ratings gold". And apparently he didnt read his emails or the message board. I'm very disappointed. I won't ever watch.

Sorry, I'm going on the whacked out comments I'm seeing in support of the guy.
Maybe instead of me saying "Gives me a good indication of the uh....how to say it politely..the *demographics* of his fans/support base"
I should have instead said "Gives me a good indication of the uh...how to say it politely..the *demographics* of the people who write/post in support of his recent VMA hijinx.

Better? ;)

I can't even say here on the DIS what I feel about Kanye right now.

I am a big fan of Beyonce and "Single Ladies" (though the SNL version with Justin Timberlake as one of "the dancers" was really the best video for that song). But, Taylor's video "You Belong With Me" is also one of my favorite videos to watch. It really brings back all that high school angst, things like not making cheerleader, not being in the popular crowd... Taylor caught that perfectly with her song and her video. She is an adorable, incredibly talented young woman who deserved her win and totally did NOT deserve that! Shame on Kanye!

I couldn't believe it as I was watching last night. I actually had to rewind my DVR to make sure I saw what I thought I saw. :scared1: Poor Taylor!!

If you look at Wikipedia or Google, it's very easy to see how many times Kanye West has pulled stunts like this. We know, Kanye, we KNOW - you're the God of the music industry, everyone else is a small speck on the ground compared to you, and we should all bow in your presence. :headache:

I am loving all these blogs and Twitters from celebs, though - - I thought Katy Perry's comment about kittens was funny. I also like Kelly and Pink's rants as well - well done, ladies! :thumbsup2

I think people (and not just you and me, everyday people - other artists as well) are having a "last straw" moment with Kanye. We've known for years what an ego-maniac he was; I wonder if he put the final nail in his own coffin with this stunt.

If I can figure out how to delete "Stronger" from my iPod, I am doing that ASAP.

I also loved the apology that really wasn't - I got the impression he was sorry people were so mad about it, not sorry about what he said. Loser.

YIKES - that post from his fan is scary. :scared1:

Please, please, please totally ignore Kanye West.
He is a classic example of some one who cannot let his talent speak for him so in order to keep his name out there, he throws some type of hiss fit.
Look he got us to spend 9 pages on his worthless self.

Remember when you were young and threw a tantrum, what did your mom say. "just ignore her"

I plan on ignoring that useless, non talented artist as long as humanly possible.

hehehe...luvs me some Kelly Clarkson.

:thumbsup2 Me too! I was a big fan before, but more so now!

I am just glad to see that other celebrities are not giving him a pass on this one, that they are just as mad as the rest of us.

I also hope that MTV extends no more invitations to him to appear at the VMAs. Maybe he's just ticked b/c they are voted on by the fans and he's been empty-handed for a few years now.....:rolleyes1

The man is on every tweet, newspaper, every news website, every gossip rag, and talk show today... which is what he wanted.

The online saying "don't feed the troll"... well it should go for him too.
Sorry....I don't believe the "any publicity is good publicity." Kanye is a classless clown.

Its because they reward bad behaviour. ...

Not everyone. "This is "just" Kanye".....please!!! I hope decent people get a clue. This IS Kanye!!! He's a tasteless creep. I'm glad that many of his peers see him as such AND are speaking out.
