Flip flops are allowed. That's what I wear in the warm months. Are flip flops allowed or do we need sandals with a strap?
Yes, make sure the poncho is under your butt as you sit! The seats may be wet, so just by sitting down you can get a wet butt. And during the ride, the water can splash over the sides then manages to funnel it's way to the seats under and behind your butt getting the back of your pants/shorts all wet.Tip: Put on your poncho before boarding the ride, and tuck it under you when you sit down. If you put it on after sitting down and buckling up, your pants can still get soaked.
If it's covered by your clothes you can, but you can't just go walking on in a bathing suitAre you allowed to wear a bathing suit?
You'll get pretty wet on KRR. I'd pack some extra clothes, or go far enough as to bring a bathing suit; on a school trip we were all required to change to ride xxThe last time we went to Disney World, Kali was closed for refurb. I haven't seen an announced refurb for our trip yet...so...if it's open...how wet do you actually get? We love the river rapid ride at Busch Gardens here in VA...but on that ride we usually get so soaked that we're in the bathroom afterwards ringing out our underwear.Do I need to pack flip flops so our sneakers don't get wet? (another thing we usually do at BG...change into flip flops before we ride and stow our bags/sneakers in a locker) THANKS!
When we went to the parks, we had a small backpack and had flip flops in it for water rides or if it rained. When we went on Splash Mountain we switched into our flip flops so we did not have to have wet sneakers.I don’t mind getting wet (enjoy it in the summer), but this is one of my least favorite rides because my shoes always end up soaked. We only wear sneakers in the parks, and it’s really unpleasant walking around the rest of the day in waterlogged shoes. I’ve experimented with taking off my socks and wearing just sneakers for this, but it doesn’t make a difference in how wet my shoes get. Bringing along a separate pair of shoes just for this ride seems silly, but I’ve considered doing it just to make the rest of my afternoon/evening more enjoyable.
I can only say that when we last rode (about 2-3 years ago) I was one of those "lucky" enough to have a wall of water come over the top of my head and soak me from top to bottom. After reading loads of people saying we would get soaked on this ride; change into sandals, wear ponchos, etc. we all changed into sandals before our first ride this September. We didn't wear ponchos as it was hot and we wanted to get wet to cool down. The first time round we didn't even get wet enough to cool us down so we went on again. We went round 4 times and still didn't come off soaked. After 4 rides we were a nice amount of wet for how hot it is in September.
On our second day at AK we didn't bother changing footwear and went around 3 times and didn't get soaked. We got the wettest waiting to get off at the end as it was built up back to the elephant squirters and we were stuck right in their line of fire.
Clearly some people get soaked but we never did. We never saw masses of water come over the sides of the raft like described here or I've seen on videos. I wonder what makes the difference between experiences!? We can't have just been lucky 7 times...?
When we rode this last September, there was no longer a wall of water over the side at the bottom of the drop like there used to be. The only reason we got wet was because of the elephant sprayers. No one was coming off the ride drenched. After reading loads of people saying we would get soaked on this ride; change into sandals, wear ponchos, etc. we all changed into sandals before our first ride this September. I have been soaked by the wall of water in the past, too, but there was no wall of water for anyone in Sept. It was a clear, dry, hot day so weather was not a factor.I can only say that when we last rode (about 2-3 years ago) I was one of those "lucky" enough to have a wall of water come over the top of my head and soak me from top to bottom.
