Ok this is a tough one. Does anyone have any tips on How to NOT get soaked on kali river rapids??? (notice how i didnt say not get wet) Last time i was one it i was one of the luckier ones and didnt get too wet. From what i notice you either get soaked or dont get too wet. Does anyone have any tips on how to not get soaked, Does wearing a poncho work?? Thanks

A poncho helps...the shorter you are, the better.

When we need to stay dry, we wear the ponchos, tucked around our patooties and hold them at the neck. We only do this when it is cold out.

We wear old socks and bring new ones with us. We take our shoes off and throw them in the center (even though you aren't supposed to) and ride with our old socks on.

We walk off the ride, carrying shoes, still in the old socks. We then throw the old ones out and don the new ones, and put on our nice, dry shoes.

I know if you can sit on the lighter side of the ride, (watch how people are sitting) sitting on the same side as little kids is better than between 3 adults. It doesn't always work, but it helps. The heavier side tends to go down first, and water splashes over.

So I won't look like a loser if I wear my poncho in December? :teeth:

I hate to be soaked through and through. I also really hate having wet feet. Thanks for the tips. :goodvibes

For feet try bringing a cheap light pair of flip flops- wear them on the ride and then put them in a backpack or throw them away if they were really cheap.

sorry can't help with you with any tips because we loved to get soaked. It is usually too hot to not want to get soaked. Then we walk around AK like drenched sewer rats but feel very refreshed.

if you don't want to get soaked, wear a poncho.
no matter what, wear one in december. it just plain stinks being cold and wet!

I know one time they had this huge blow dryer, big enough to dry about 5 people at once. It was really cold that day.

Don't go on the ride! That is the ONLY way I know of. No matter what precautions I take I always get SOAKED--like I just got out of the shower.

My mom rode and got completely soaked...but when I rode last summer the ride lasted about 20 seconds and NO ONE got wet. I always heard you got really wet on the ride...anyone know what happened the time I rode where it was short and no one got wet?
