Hi

We went on Kali river rapids for the first time this past week. I found it very short and not like the Video's we have seen on the Disney vacation DVD's have they changed this ride? made it shorter? took some features out? My co-worker was saying the fire part was intense no fire for us?

Still liked the ride but I guess we were expecting more.

Thanks Dave

Its definitely not worth waiting in line for more than 10 minutes. The best part about the ride is seeing who gets stuck in the bad seat that gets really wet during that big drop. Unfortanately it's usually me.

I agree also that it's not that great. The best type ride like that is a Universal is a ride with Popeye (I forget the name), it was amazing!

It has always been a very weak. Several other parks, just plain amusement parks have better versions of this ride. After going on it once we haven't waited in line again to go on this. Walking around wet is not worth it for this ride.

I was really looking forward to Kali River Rapids and wasn't that impressed either. I enjoyed the ride but it didn't live up to my expectations. I live near Cedar Point and Thunder Canyon (a similar type ride) I find to be more enjoyable. This last trip I didn't even ride it, the fast pass return times didn't work with our plans and I didn't feel it was worth standing in a long line for ;).

If the wait is more than 20 mins or we dont have FP-we completely pass. It takes about 10 minutes just get from the entrance to the ride.

Strange... this is one of my family's favourite rides! :confused3

We generally travel in the off season, and being Canadians we have a different idea of what "warm" weather is. I remember once going on it over and over and over again, just ducking under the rope to hop right back on. Sometimes you come through almost dry and sometimes you get soaked, and sometimes it's one of your friends who gets soaked, so you can totally mock them for it... until the cold water hits you! :lmao:

There WAS fire when we were there. I distinctly remember floating past the burned up ruined area and feeling the heat from the flames. I hope nothing's changed!

We went on Kali River Rapids for the first time this past trip, which was our third since 2007. On the first, we ran out of time. On the second trip, we got fast passes, but the ride was down the entire time we were at AK. So I was totally excited to be able to go on Kali River Rapids this past trip, and it was very tame and short. I liked it, but it was some what disappointing.

I agree with the PP that the ride at Universal, Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, was much better. It was longer and you get much more wet on this ride than Kali. This ride set the standard for me, and Kali just wasn't as fun.

Kali is nice but awfully short. We usually skip it because of the long lines.

I remember riding it (after a week at universal and Bluto's version) and all I thought was... That's It?

It is nicely themed, I just wish it was a minute longer...

The ride does nothing for me, but the theming of the queue is great. I walked through the line once just to look at the details - with no intention of going on the ride.

Went to disney world for the first time several years ago and i loved this water ride

Rode it during the Asia Passholder Preview (when passholder previews were still done right), and everyone in the boat looked around and said "That's it?" when it was over.

I think I've done it one time since then - not an impressive ride.

It's what you make of it. Maybe the storyline isn't the best but I don't really care about that. It's the other people in the raft. We've had some of the best times on the ride just because of other people being afraid of getting wet or that first hill where some think it's the final drop. It's so much fun if you take the effort to watch the people and not think "this is a short ride", blah, blah, blah. Dumbo is a short ride and it's pretty lame but it's the experience, not the ride.

Worst thing is riding with a bunch of people in ponchos. What's the point?

The ride hasn't been shortened at all. It's always been a five minute ride, which is comparable to many Disney rides. The fire effects in the "burn zone" were reduced last year for cost and environmental reasons.

We like to ride it twice in a row. It was great fun for us. My father in law and husband got soaked twice and I managed to stay dry. My daughter who was 4.5 at the time deemed it her favorite ride.

Hmm, while it is somewhat tame I believe their is a reason for it. The tameness has allowed my whole family including my young children to ride together on this. If it were too wild the size requirements would need to be much higher. If you consider that Disney is for young children and not an amusement park exclusively for grown adults than it is a blast riding with my entire family and watching the expressions on their little faces. So, while yes it is somewhat tame, it is perfect in the scope of Disney considering their audience.

That's too bad, I'll miss getting "roasted"... but I guess the theming would still be pretty nice. :thumbsup2

I agree with some of the PPs that the flume rides are Islands of Adventure are more impressive, longer and more exciting, but Kali River Rapids is definitely the prettiest to look at. I like it better than Splash Mountain!

My first ride on Kali RR was my last. I sat in the "bad" seat and was absolutely drenched! I dripped water for an hour. Even my undies got soaking wet and my shoes squished.... :rotfl:

Went to Flame Tree afterward and couldn't even sit I was so miserable. Had to end up going to the hotel and changing clothes.

Never again....

We love Kali River Rapids actually! I thought the theme was really nice and while it is short, it isn't TOO short of a ride.
