read someplace that they have lockers for you to use for free...so yu wont get your items wet...how true is this and what about the place in the boat itself...does that hold enough of our items?

There are lockers nearby, I think they're close to the bathrooms. You can use them for free for up to 2 hours. I'm thinking that we had to swipe a credit card to use them, but I'm not sure.

The compartment in the center of the raft isn't that big and it is definitely not waterproof.

I don't know about lockable lockers but they have(or had last year) wooden "cubbies" on the loading dock where you can leave items at your own risk. On the boats there is a centre storage area with heavy duty plastic covers that aren't really sealed but just close by weight like a large flap over the storage container. Things can still get wet. A lot of people bring plastic bags to further protect their stuff.
Hope this helps, while I have gotten soaked, last year I went on twice in a row (no one was there) and I didn't get any water on me at all.

Yes the container in the center of the raft usually has a small puddle in it to start with and the lid doesn't close well. I wear a poncho on the ride and hold my bag on my lap under the poncho. It stays very dry! I have never used the lockers but it might be a good alternative for you.

Thanks for asking this... I was wondering the same thing.
We used the lockers in August 2013, it was wonderful!!! All our stuff fit (we don't carry a ton though, but all our cameras, watches, phones, hats, small bag etc) all fit and we knew for sure they would stay completely dry. That center compartment is never dry.

The locker are right across from the entrance to Kali. They are free for the first two hours (if I remember correctly) and secure. They were big enough to hold all of our stuff, i.e. camera, shopping bags, purse, etc. If one is not big enough, you could alway use two or more of them. Like other people have said the compartment in the raft is not and will not stay dry. Only use it for things that can get wet or are waterproof.

The lockers are across and just past the entrance to the ride, near the rest rooms. There is a small fountain there and water "hazards" near them and you'll often see kids splashing around in them. If I remember right, there is a kiosk to swipe a card and get a locker assigned. Maybe select a PIN? They are free for a time (2hrs) and then a charge after that.

Unlike others have said, I've found the center compartment on the ride to be enough. I usually wear a hat so I put phones and anything else inside the hat, then in the compartment in the middle of the ride. I've never even had a drop of water on anything when in there.

I agree. I carry a small bag with everything I need for a trip to the parks in it. My husband carries a day bag with the same in it. We have cell phones and I have a camera and we both carry the bags onto Kali River Rapids with no problems. Neither bag is waterproof but water takes a while to soak into things to destroy them. We also have cell phone cases to protect them.

The lockers outside of Kali do require a credit card because if you go over the time limit, you will have to pay for the "free" locker". Disney World isn't stupid enough to offer "free" lockers and let people keep their things in there all day long for "free".

Now, one thing I would advise against which happened to my father-in-law a few years ago is, do NOT put your ordinary wallet in your back pocket and go on Kali River Rapids. Just, well, do not.

I've always just put my bag in the center compartment. It's never been completely dry, but has only had a few drops of water on it. I do put my camera and our phones in a Ziploc bag inside my bag, just in case.

Do you need a credit card or do these lockers open woth magic bands? thank you for this tip

They open with a PIN so you have to be careful while setting it (so others don't see. There have been reports of theft). To be honest I don't recall how they enforce the 2 hour limit. Doing a little searching I see no reference to swiping a card to set the PIN so that my come into play only after the time limit.

No CC required from what I remember. You just enter a PIN and off you go to the ride.

Would you all say that the lockers are secure enough to leave something really valuable in them? I wear an insulin pump which can not get wet. Would I be okay leaving it there?

I would say yes. It's not like someone is standing around the lockers all day waiting to break in to one.

I haven't been to WDW since they installed the lockers at Kali River Rapids, but I have used the ones at Grizzly River Run in DCA, and if I remember right (it's been a few years though), you don't set the PIN. I think the way it works is that when you put your stuff in the locker, you get a receipt with the locker number and the PIN on it, then when you come back, you enter the PIN, and if it's less than 2 hours since you put your stuff in, the locker will open. (It's all done on a touch screen.) If it's more than 2 hours, it will ask for payment.

I was able to ride this last October and you picked your own pin 4 digits to set pin and you entered it twice to "set it" on a pin pad that is on each locker. They let you know about the fees but don't require a card or form of payment to use the locker ( this was as of October last year).

But what happens if you come back after the two hours? Is the credit card then required?
