Kadani location request ??

I have booked a SV studio at Kadani for 2 days the first of Feb. for my brother and his wife.

As I have never stayed at AKV, I'm not sure what I might need to request so that they will have a great view of the animals. My DH and I will be at WDW during the time DB & DSil are at AKV, so I plan to check it out and enjoy the view as well. I did request a room near the elevators becasue my brother sometimes has knee issues when he has been doing a lot of walking and I have read that the hallways are verrrry long.

Should I request a certain floor that would have better views than others? This will be a short relaxing stay and we won't be in the parks much.

Call back and cancel prior close to elevator request. Change it to close to lobby. Yes, the two wings are very long. The distance from lobby to end rooms on the north wing is 1/3 mile. Requesting close to elevator does not solve problem because there are multiple elevators along wings and the last elevators are a huge distance from the lobby. Close to lobby with savanna view puts you on sunset savanna, the better and larger one at Kidani which has giraffes. It also gives you excellent views and puts you close to everything -- lobby, restaurant, community hall, pool, bus stop. You might also request lower floor to get more direct sight line to animals but make a that second request.

Funny story about room requests. We stayed at Kidani recently for the first time and were lucky to get close to the lobby.

However we noticed the giraffes were always hanging out nearer to the ends of the building near those rooms at the end of the long halls.

Curious, I asked at the desk if they put food out for them at various locations and suddenly the CMs at the Front Desk starting laughing.

I was like, OK what is the inside joke? This was late at night and no one waiting to check and no one in the lobby. They said, they did that to get people to request something other than Close to the Lobby.

So they are on to us.

I changed my request to "close to the lobby".

Tonight DB says "I want to see the giraffes"

Maybe after they (giraffes) eat their fill, they will wonder down "close to the lobby".

My request was close to transportation close to lobby.. we we're on the 4th floor right around the corner from the lobby.. saw giraffes all the time! Loved our location.

we made a room request last summer to be close to the lobby. pretty sure it wasnt granted as we were past the pool. Not sure if it is because the CM worked so hard to find an available and ready room or if it was just bad luck.

all our prior non dvc trips our room requests had always been granted

Any hints on a nicer standard view than just a parking lot? I was thinking about asking for close to the pool, since that seems close to the bus stop as well. We have a 1BR for 4 nights around Easter.

The lobby is actually on the second floor. We've been in the Timon section, or second section from the lobby with the bus stop directly in front. This was a great location and YES, the giraffes wandered down to our area quite frequently.

The parking is mostly under the building the closer you get to the lobby. If you request close to the pool, you can actually end up far from the bus stop, but you will have a better view. Again, we were in the Timon section, or two sections from the lobby with the bus stop directly outside. The walk to the pool is very short so this may be a good location to request. The view from the room in this section is of the bus stop, driveway and the woods/greenland beyond. We like rooms 7204 -7511 (1st section from lobby by bus stop) and 7212-7519 (2nd section from lobby by bus stop). That first section is where the community hall is as well.
