:confused3 I have a Zafira which I love - only draw back is the spare wheel which hangs in a cage under the back and following 4 thefts Vauxhall fitted me with a K-loc, I specifically asked if it was easy to use as DH doesn't drive - I was told that it was easy and ideal for a woman driver!
Well I had a flat tyre yesterday - drove over a screw, I decided that I would give changing the wheel a go! failed at the first hurdle - I couldn't find out how to unlock my K-loc! I ended up calling out roadside assistance - a very, very nice man came and spent an hour trying to work out how to gain access to the spare - he then had to put my vehicle on the back of the trailer and then take me to a garage (who were about to close but took pity on me) and another 3 men got under the car - still no clue, in the end they replaced the flat tyre with a new one! and then another 4 men came and had a look and no joy, in total I had 12 men under my car - at different times (aren't I the lucky one) and still no joy at removing the wheel, one good thing it won't get stolen.
Does anyone have any idea how these locks are removed - I would be gratefull for any help. :confused3

good grief! sorry not a clue!

OMG, have not long bought a Zafira! will have to double check I know how to get the spare out, or should practise looking blonde and vulnerable!

carolfoy - if you haven't got a lock on the spare wheel - get one quick!!!

To be honest I've never had any problem with crime around my area, it certainly sounds more trouble than its worth.

Does it not say in the handbook?

I have a Picasso - this is what it says.

Access to the spare wheel:

The wheel carrier retaining bolt is situated under the boot carpet near the tailgate catch.
Unscrew the retaining bolt using the end of the wheel brace.
Slacken the retaining bolt without fully unscrewing, lift the carrier to release and disengage the retaining hook.

Tools :

The wheelbrace is clipped into the cover of the stowage area located under the floor behind one of the front seats, the jack and handle are located in a protective holder in the spare wheel under the boot floor.
Pull it upwards to release.

Removal :

Place the chock (like a honeycombed square plastic thing), integrated in the
protective holder, behind the wheel diagonally opposite that being changed.

postion the jack at one of the four jacking points on he underside of the vehicle adjacent to the wheels. Using the wheel brace extend the jack until it touches the ground.
Loosen the wheel bolts using the wheel brace.
Extend the jack until the wheel is a few centimetres off the ground.
unscrew the wheelbolts and remove the wheel.

That sounds a bit complex, hope I don't have a flat - not sure if this is any use.

Removing the K-loc should be just a case of lifting the carpet in the boot, locating the K-loc bolt that sticks though the floor and then undoing the bolt.

The spare wheel should then be able to be lowered as normal in a similar way to the Picasso as Johnny describes above.

The K LOC Series 19 spare wheel lock costs £37.50 and is easy to fit if anyone hasn't got one yet :)

Thanks for your replies. Goofyish - we did undo the bolt inside the boot, but all that happened was the cage that the wheel sits in dropped down, the wheel stayed firmly were it was - infact it wasn't sobbly or anything it just hung under the car!!

Was there not another bolt, roughly in-line with the centre of the spare wheel?

The K LOC is installed separately from the wheel cage and will hold the spare wheel against the underside of the car.

There is a bolt through the plate on the wheel but this can't be accessed from inside the vehicle, there are 2 extra seats that fold flat into the floor of the boot, we have taken these out but there is nothing there and you can't access under the carpet!!!
