i wouldn't/I just hope he can make fair decisions based on the law..If he does this, some will fall on the conservatove side, and some on the liberal end..It's what I expect from ANY justiceDawnCt1 said:You are going to disappoint the left with such common sense that it isn't fair!![]()

They would prefer to think that Justice Alito is a sleath liberal who is going to change the face of America and really stick it to the president!![]()
MAKmom said:The OP did not say that. She was complimenting Alito for his common sense.
How do you know what anyone thinks?
"SLEATH" is a typo. I meant STEALTH.Independent said:I want to know what a "sleath" liberal is. And do I want to be one?![]()

I can say the same for the term conservative. I went to a Conservatory in Boston where 95% of the student body, and professors, were leberal. You should have seen the looks I got when I told people I was conservative. In one conversation a theater major said to me, "OMG! You're a conservative?" Now add a very nasty look to the face and say that in a very nasty way. This was the norm. So we conservatives get it a lot as well.wvrevy said:I can never figure out in these discussions just why it is so horribly evil for a judge to be considered "liberal". Liberals are concerned with people's rights...with liberty, the very root of the word that some people like to throw around as an insult.
I am not sure if he is Catholic, but I am and I agree with your statement. BTW cute picture.scubamouse said:Isn't he Catholic? A lot of Catholics take pro-life to be anti-abortion and anti-death penalty. At least they're consistent!![]()
But if they are so for "liberty" then they should accept your right to be a conservative. Or are they only for the "liberty" that they say is acceptable?CapeCodTenor said:I can say the same for the term conservative. MzDiz said:I would certainly be nice if the conservatives started acting *conservative* rather than invading other countries, cutting health care to the poor so they can die on the streets and executing everyone. No, wait, there's a zygote somewhere that's been frozen for a decade that some conservative wants to fight for...
Yeah, yeah...![]()

Besides, there's endless comedy involved. I mean, where else but in politics could you find the kind of massive hypocrisy on display Tuesday, when Bush, having just talked about the importance of high ethical standards in congress, exited the room with Tom Delay in his hip pocket.
Then there was the line about the importance of education...a few short days after his Republican congress gutted the Pell Grant program that many poor students - including myself - used to go to college.mickeyfan2 said:I am not sure if he is Catholic, but I am and I agree with your statement. Wow...criticism from a conservative with a non-ironic George Orwell quote in their signature.

What's pathetic is that some of these Conservatives think that being spoon fed right-wing rhetoric from this Administration, even when it completely flies in the face of truth and common sense, somehow constitutes being a "free thinker". I just don't get it...gladly never will!!To the person that asked if it got old...No, it doesn't. It can be disheartening, realizing that you share the country with people that have no interest in thinking for themselves, but I wouldn't call it "old". Besides, there's endless comedy involved. "No Child Left Behind" was a brilliant advertising line. It did it's job at the voters booth and now it can be quietly discarded as the empty promise it always was.
