Kelly keep in mind that the media does tend to get a bit sensational when it comes to these types of issues.

The media is going to see big $$$$ signs. They must be peeing their pants with joy.

how can it be namecalling if you are not even refering to anyone specifically?
...and since neither was I in the post labelled as "mud slinging" then we're both innocent! ;)

The Bush administration is under intense pressure from social conservatives to nominate someone who will issue rulings with a fundamentalist religious perspective. The Terri Schaivo fiasco is a perfect example of what could happen if the far right is able to replace O'Connor. If you want to continue to live in a democracy, then it is critical to be prepared to wage a campaign in favor of a moderate, sensible justice.

People for the American Way will be leading the campaign against any jurists from the radical right. Their web site is www.pfaw.org.

And this is what scares me. It isn't so much President Bush I worry about, but the people that passionately put him into office. Yes there are moderate repulbicans who voted for Bush - and them I at least get. However we all have to admitt that there are some extreme religious groups that supported President Bush and now want their payday. They will be putting extreme pressure on the administration to select someone on the far right. That to me is worrisome. You should always know who you are going to bed with - I don't think President Bush realized that extreme christian right makes poor bed fellows.

Anyone have a clue when a nomination will be released? They said not today.

Maybe we'll find out at the 11:15 press conference?

Most likely. It's been reported that the White House has been vetting candidates for some time, expecting BOTH O'Connor and Rehnquist to resign. They're well prepared to announce a replacement.
