Hi everyone...

Just wondering if it is possible to have a Planning Session 9 months before the wedding date? I was told about a site visit since I will be in Florida then but I am worried I won't be able to discuss about the Floral, Cake, etc when I am there...? :confused3

Also, I know in the past you were able to set aside 2-3 hotels for the wedding guests to stay at but has it changed to just being able to pick out 1 hotel...?

Much Thanks...

For the hotels, you can pick anywhere between 1 and 3 hotels, and I think I saw on another thread somewhere that you might even be able to stretch it to 4. Typically people don't book planning sessions until at least 6 months out, but Disney is very accommodating and I think if you told them that that was the only time you would be able to visit, they will make it work. Or they will suggest a phone PS. But you have to schedule it at least 30 days in advance. A site visit is not the same thing, you won't be able to do a menu tasting or talk with the florist. You can discuss some things with your consultant but nothing will be written in stone like it would be at your PS. You'll just be going to look at a few venue choices for the ceremony and reception. HTH.

I asked about a PS more then 6 months out and was told no, mainly because they can't confirm pricing until 6 months out. I also asked about the possibility of having it really close to the wedding, but it has to be done no later then 30 days before hand.

We blocked 3 hotel rooms, but I'm pretty sure you have the option of 4. That's for a wishes wedding.

i'm sure the range of experiences do vary and obviously the default action is to simply ask, but my experience is that they are pretty inflexible with the dates of sessions etc... they have a timeline and seem pretty hard core about sticking to it which is part of why the wedding machine keeps rolling along.

what i am finding as i go through the process, not that it stopped or stops me from freaking from time to time, is that it WILL all get done and other people have been through it before and all turned out fine. so it can't hurt to ask, but i think they are pretty firm on these things. good luck!

A planning session prior to 6 months before the wedding has happened on occassion because brides on here have had them at 7-8 months out. But as a previous poster stated above, you can't confirm pricing until 6 months before your date so it doesn't make sense to have your PS so early.

You can set aside rooms at up to 4 hotels, but they strongly encourage you to keep it to 3 or fewer because it means guests don't have to be on the your charter transportation (if applicable) as long. If I could have, I would have limited it to just one hotel because then I wouldn't have had to pay for a charter bus—I could have just done a one-way bus for less money.

Ahh, not sure how it will work for me now with planning session since I will be in Florida in less than 30 days but I have my site visit scheduled already. I really wouldn't mind just having a phone PS but it's just the cake flavors that I am worried about and would need to try out.

Thank You so much. :)

I guess I am going to have to ask if maybe I can just have a cake tasting since that would be my main concern when I will be there end of this month. And I understand about pricing, I'm sure everything will go up by the time I reach the 6 month mark. :rotfl:

I was def thinking about having 3 hotel choices but since I'm working with a 3rd party I was told that it should just be 1 so I got a little worried about that.

Thank You so much. :)

You're completely right about that, they have to keep moving and stick to a schedule but I'm such a laid back person as it is that when it comes to my wedding I don't want to make a big deal out of certain things like cake tasting since there are other things for me to stress out about as it is.

But I will def ask and see what happens. Everyone is always so helpful on here that I'm sure even if I'm not able to have a cake tasting that I can probably have some great recommendations and go from there. :goodvibes

Thank You so much. :)

Yep, I def understand about not being able to get prices before the 6 months out but there would be no way for me to get back down to Florida during that time so I wouldn't mind a phone PS/emails to discuss floral &cake design or prices then. Just the cake flavors is what I am worried about.

I wanted to set aside 3 choices but I am willing to keep it down to 1 Value & 1 Moderate just to be able to give my guests a choice on what they can afford or even the amount of space they have in a room. Most of my guests will be going to Disney for the 1st time so I'd like to have a charter bus for them so they wouldn't have to figure out the transportation on their own but I don't want to spend too much on that so I might have to plan something else out.

Thank You so much. :)
