Just wondering how many commute to work

My commute in the morning is about 45 minutes, and my afternoon commute is about 45 minutes to an hour. That’s pretty typical for the Atlanta area, if not a bit on the slightly better side.

I don’t really mind the morning commute since I enjoy listening to the radio and waking up. It does stress me a bit when traffic is really bad though.

I tend to get more frustrated with my afternoon commute. For some reason people seem to drive much more recklessly at night, and trying to avoid accidents left and right is frustrating. I do talk to my mom on the way home using my earpiece. I would like to live closer to work, but that would mean higher rent.

DH drives 45 minutes to work each day. It is on the Interstate, but not through a heavily traveled or populated area.

I commute each day. It's 20 minutes into work and for some goofy reason 30 minutes coming home. (Same amount of traffic going both ways)

I just recently started a new job where my commute is about 45minutes in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. I have found I like it somewhat right now because the weather is nice but once winter hits it will not be fun. We live in Salt Lake and I work in Provo. You have to cross the point of a mountain to get between the two and the weather at the point can get pretty messy from past experiences. Our daughter is in school so once she is done we will move around the point. I haven't really noticed anyone yet. On a 3-lane interstate it is pretty diverse. Currently I have been listening to Harry Potter 4 (to get ready for the movie). Next I have the DaVinci Code. The books on tape definately make the drive go by quicker in my opinion.

My commute is 7 miles and anywhere from 30min to over an hour. I'm in constant stop and go traffic.
DH travels about an hour if he's in the office or anywhere from 20min to 2hrs if he needs to work out of a remote location.

My DH and I use public transportation--between the drive to the train, the train ride, and the subway it takes about 45 minutes. We ride in together in the morning, but I have to go back and pick him up in the evening since he works later than me.

We only live a few miles outside the city, but trying to drive in is crazy with insane drivers (we do live in the Boston area!), we work on opposite sides of the city, and parking is ridiculously expensive.

We've been taking the same morning train for years and have come up with silly nicknames for our fellow passengers: there is FBI guy (always wears a trenchcoat and sunglasses), Sourpuss (never smiles, always sighing to herself), Foghorn Leghorn (a woman with bright red hair that sticks up like a rooster comb), Bela Karolyi (because he looks just like him!), and lots more.

I used to commute 90 minutes each way. The corporate world and the commute wasnt for me!! I quit in the spring and I am going for my masters degree! Woohoo!

I am about 30 miles from work in downtown Atlanta and my commute time ranges from 45 minutes (no traffic) to 2+ hours each way.

I agree with the poster who said the evening commute is much worse. I guess it's all of the people trying to get home...let's face it, if I get to work late, who cares, I'll blame the traffic. But if I get home late at night, then personal free time has been taken away.

Whatever you do, don't start adding up the commute times and seeing exactly how much of your life is being spent in your car. It can be pretty scary. Thank goodness for Mike & Mike in the morning (ESPN) and the Philips Phile in the evening...XM Radio is one of the greatest investments I ever made!

20 miles each way. Depending on the time of day and the weather, my commute ranges from 25 minutes to over 2 1/2 hours. It seems that people in NE Ohio have bad long term memory because each winter at the first sign of snow, the interstates and roads around here gridlock. On those days it feels like I could walk home faster.

Before I took this job, I worked just 5 minutes from home. I was spoiled because I could easily drive home for lunch and be back at work in under an hour.

When I lived in SoCal, my commute was pretty consistantly an hour to and from work. I was in a carpool, so the time went pretty quickly and I only had to drive every third day. I can't seem to get the guys where I work now interested in a carpool. There are three of us that live within 2 blocks of one another and we quite often follow each other either to work and/or to home. Maybe when gasoline gets a bit more expensive....

Wow, carpooling would give someone to talk to and save gas too. Maybe eventually they will...I have no one who lives close to me at my employer, so its just me

i drive 40 minutes to and from my college ,,,,,then 20 minutes to and from work...i actually enjoy it!

I live across the street from my school. It's about a 3 minute walk. However, I've been on crutches after tripping on a chair and now have to drive across the street because I can't carry my school bags with me.
