Just wondering;

I was on the 3 day cruise on the last week of September and the ship backed into Castaway Cay. Not a big deal and I wouldnt have even noticed but on the post card of castaway cay it was facing forward. The only problem with the ship facing backwards is that every picture from the island will be taken of the rear of the ship. Just" WONDERING". I'm going back in January.

On our last cruise we took a bridge tour and that question was asked. The 2nd officer who conducted the tour said that it was up to the captain as to whether he came in forwards or backwards and that weather , currents etc. were the determining factors. He did say that they prefer to back in , if possible , so that if the ship needed to leave in a hurry (emergency, unexpected weather etc.) they did not have to waste time turning the ship around.

howard... I am SOOOOOOOOO jealous, I would LOVE a bridge tour!!! How did you swing that?

Backing in is definitely the preferred option...in all of our many cruises, I can't even remember the last time we pulled in forward! Kinda neat when we're in 5650 because then we're at the "front."
Bridge tours used to be offered prior to 9/11 but have been discontinued since then. They may be offered again in the future if security restrictions change. We have some photos of the bridge on my website at www.castawayclub.com that were taken back in the good ol' pre-terrorist days.

I know it's so upsetting Barb :( I hope it does change some day, I would book a cruise just to do that!
