Just won Summerbay on skyauction!! First time ever trying this! Learned about it from here..now I just want to know what is summerbay like? Anyone been there that can let me know how the resort is? Are you allowed to make requests for rooms or areas and if so...any suggestions? ::yes::

HappyLawyer just got back. Maybe he'll post a response. If not, send him a PM.

the staff at summer bay is nice....

there are actually three "resort" designations within the resort itself....Houses at Summer Bay, Villas at Summer Bay and ( not sure about this one but ) Condos at Summer Bay....the houses and villas are the older units....houses are stand alone and include their own pool/spa villas are near the front of the property ....houses at the back....condos in between....

you could always try to phone ahead to see if they could put you in a certain area....depending upon the "classification" you have won

there is also a Holiday Inn hotel at the front of the property .....which is part of the complex

summer bay resort itself is located about 1 mile from hwy 27 on 192 .....but there is a nice new super walmart that just opened just a mile north on hwy 27

you can count on a 30 minute or so drive ...give or take to get to most disney sites....longer to get to universal and seaworld

you will find it easier to get onto the highway if you take the "resort drive" just after the guard house ( turn right ) it will take you to the Publix plaza where there is also an way to get onto 192 using the stop light ( especially if you are turning left )

we were just there in november on an rci exchange in the Houses

we would stay there again....

We had two 1BR units at "Summer Bay Resort" (not the houses nor the villas) earlier this month. Both units were spotless and felt "brand new." Each unit had a king bed, jetted-tub, washer/dryer, full kitchen, living room w/ dining area, and private patio. FWIW, we were in building 404, 2nd floor.

The resort hosted various activities -- but we didn't participate due to our own busy schedules.

Beyond that ... I'll simply agree with previously posted comments.

yes, i just got back and summer bay was beautiful, heated pool open 24 hours, work out room is small but villas are bery nice and cozy, it is at the end of 192, they offer a comp shuttle to disney but we drove our rental car, i had a problem with wake up calles they or at least one woman did it in reverse em 9am put in for 9pm, property not very big, they will offer you a time share presentation, they have incentives of free tickets or 50 bucks in groceries, we opted to do it for the free groceries, but the sales man was a bit abrupt, i was there 7 nights and enjoyed it, they have themed nights at the pool, like karoke night and some others, if you want to know somethng specific pm me and i can answer any other questions

About the workout room, what was in there? Both my husband and I are big fitness buffs. I just assumed that at such a nice place they would have a decent room. We just need a treadmill and a good bench with a large selection of dumbbells. Did they have that? What was the kids club like? Do they offer any babysitting for a night out?
Maybe I should pm you...HEE HEE

there were not even 7 items, a benck with weights, two treadmills, 1 stairmaster and a few little other things, it works for the basics but if 10 people chose to work out at one time there would be a problem
