I ordered my college text books off of Amazon.com, and they are all being shipped via UPS. Due to the book availability they were not all shipped together. So far I have received 3 amazon.com packages with my books in them. We must have recently got a new UPS guy on our delivery route. He seems friendly and has delived the last 3 packages. Today he knocks on the door, I open it and smile. As he hands me the little electronic signy thing he says.......

"Do you just sit at home and order things off the internet?"

I was taken aback for a second and said, "ummm, no these are text books for school." When my SO called later I told him and he burst out laughing. Geez!!!

My UPS lady LOVES me!! :D
When I get a package ( from something Ive found off the shopping site) she waits to be invited in then comes in to see everything I got LOL. She always marvels at what I win or get for free :) LOL Its hilarious!!!

LOL Maybe he was hitting on you and couldnt think of anything better to say!

LOL, well I don't suppose you gave him a tip?

Our UPS guy that delivers to where I work is great. Back when they went on strike a few yearas ago we gave him a lot of grief when the strike ended and he took it all really well. I hate it when he is off and we have to deal with someone else.

BTW....the grief we gave him was the good natured kind..."been on vacation?", that sort of stuff.......:)

i think his comment was kind of funny. i would have replied, " it appears that way doesn't it?"
i like my ups guy. i was expecting a bathing suit at the begining of the summer. i happened to be outside doing yard work when the big brown truck pulled in front of the house. i knew what the package was so i said to him," don't even get out of the truck, just toss it over the fence." ke laughed, but he did toss it.

I would have said that I was agoraphobic & made him feel like a bit of a jerk & then tell him I was joking. Yeah, it would have been a little mean, but perhaps it would give him reason to think twice before blurting something out to someone next time. :)

Disney845, that wasn't very nice and, somewhat presumptious of him.

My regular UPS person is a Woman! She knows me well  and has never waited for a signature, etc. She leaves the package, rings the bell and, leaves. If I'm quick enough, I get to wave to her! Only once have we spoken. When I recently had a 'replacement', he rang and rang until someone answered and then, kept me at the door waiting to enter all his necessary info that I NEVER SIGNED for! It was just an acknowledgment of delivery, NOT for receipt!

Luckily, I'm not the only one on my block who 'just sits at home and orders off the internet', like you!!! ;)

lol....mine better be nice I am waiting for a package from him, and he better be nice in giving it to me.....I am waiting patiently

Our UPS guy is pretty cool. He brings my home stuff to the Fire Station if I am at work. The only time I got dirty looks was when I ordered a roll top desk kit. It came in like 4 real heavy boxes and he didn't look very happy.

LOL. I just hate it when items don't ship together. :)

I've yet to see what mine looks like! He's one who knocks on the door and runs away. It just irritates me when he leaves boxes in other directions than ways the arrows will point up properly.

I would have answered him "yes I do, to give guys like you some job security". Ok, well I wouldn't say that, but I would WANT to!! ;)

I work for USPS as a mail carrier.
I'd love to deliver your packages. My little white truck with no AC (I live in Texas) gets as hot as an oven during the summer. An occasional hop out to deliver a package to a customer with a smile on their face, makes things seem so much cooler.
On a sad note, I have seen customers a few houses away shove an outgoing letter in their box and then run inside. After delivering their house, I see them check their mail in my rearview mirror. A simple, "Hi, how are you" would really make for a brighter day.
True: we can't hang around and talk, but we do enjoy the smiles of our customers.

USPS is a different thing entirely. I can remember leaving tins of homemade christmas cookies in our mailbox for our mail lady when I was younger. She was very nice. I understand that these guys have it hard lugging people's packages around all day, but they chose their job. One day he (the same UPS guy) says: "Geez I have delivered 15 packages just to this apartment complex today." Well pardon me, but I thought delivering packages was your job. I have nothing against this man, and I am sure he meant nothing by his comment. I will continue to smile and say hi while signing for my packages. It is weird how some UPS guys make you sign and other do not seem to care about that.
