Booked our Tahiti tickets through Travalocity last April. Delta "owns" the reservations. JFK - LAX via Delta, LAX - Papeete via Air France/ code shares w/ Delta. Paid for the tickets in full as you MUST!

So, coming home, out bags didn't make the 3 hour connection. OK, sort through that, 1 bag delivered at 7 am today (Tues, arrived home early Sat morning). The 2nd bag s/be delivered tonight.

Well, I check my credit card statement on-line. I see DELTA has charged me $261. I didn't charge anything with them, no over weight bags, no snacks, etc. (I have their gold card, so my bags are always "free".) I email them. They've charged me an additional charge for my daughters ticket.

Are you fricken KIDDIN me!!! How on earth is it LEGAL to change the price of a ticket AFTER you've traveled?!?! I emailed them copies of my ticket confirmation and credit card statement showing how they EXACTLY match. We'll see what they say.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

(I posted this on the Dis Unplugged brd & someone suggested I re-post this here. And, I HAVE already disputed via my credit card company.)

Not sure what you hope to accomplish by posting this in numerous places?

Did you by any chance have an "infant in arms" on the plane?

Perhaps it was suggested she post it here hoping to get some insight on why this may have happened..afterall this is the transporation board and there's some pretty knowledgleable people on this board.

Unfortunatley I have no insight but I wish you luck in your findings :)

That is strange. What is the date of the charge? Does it coincide with the outbound or return? Did you have an infant in arms? Typically the infant in arms fee is 10% of the adult fare on international itineraries.

I would call rather than e-mail, you may get an explanation quicker.

Unreal. I am sorry to hear about this.

It amazes me how ALL of the airlines think they can get away with treating us like big $$ symbols, treat us like crap, cram us into the tightest spaces on earth for hours of travel, leave our bags where ever and then expect us to pay when with a smile. No apologies, no refunds, no compensation for our inconvenience and just expect us to pay willingly. Just rakes my last nerve!!

OP I hope you get this solved and do not have to pay that extra amount. Please update us.

I work in travel, this is not something I have seen before.

If your credit card statement has Delta on it as the vendor who made the charge, than you need to call Delta directly and have them look at it. Emailing will not really help in this case, if the person on the phone cannot help you just ask to speak to the supervisor.

I don't know the entire story but I would be on the phone to get this figured out. You may also look to disputing the charge for right now.

Sounds like a mistake was made somewhere. Instead of taking the words of people on the DIS, call and talk to Delta. Don't email. It sucks to get charged wrongly anywhere..... Be diligent and hopefully it works out.

Was your DD's airfare originally a different price than yours? Perhaps they made an initial billing mistake that they fixed. I have not seen a difference in children's fares and adult fares in a LONG time.

Are you in Tahiti now? If so, I would just let it go until you get home.

I agree this transportation board makes more sense than some podcast board.

I suggest calling also, but if asking them about the KIDDIN (sic) part, maybe ask if they were regular KIDDIN (sic) you, rather than fricken KIDDIN (sic) you.

It's probably a mistake, and if so I'm sure they'll take care of it.

We checked in for Alaska, and hubby is MVP with them. Therefore 2 of our bags should have been free. I'd already paid for the other two when I checked me and my son in (hubby was on miles so separate for us).

He was told we could all get in the MVP line, but when we got to the front the lady was unbelievably rude to him. Said that she couldn't find that he was MVP, that none of us should have been in that line (the oh so special line that took nearly 20 other customers in the normal line in order to take care of 5 customers in her line). She finally deigned to check him in, and charged him the $40 for his two bags, because he's not MVP.

We got home, and instead of flipping out, he just called. Had to call another number, and did so the next day, and he got an apology and a refund. Turns out the lady who was supposed to be checking IDs and making sure that we were who we said we were was actually looking at our 6 year old son's Alaska account. He's not MVP, nope! She wasn't looking in DH's account. Yikes.

Easy peasy, the charge hit our CC for one day and then the refund hit, no problems at all.

This is probably something like that.

I would have called Travelocity, then Delta if needed. No emails, and no freaking out. i try to save that until I need to freak out. :)

One thing that confuses me. If you bought your tickets through Travelocity, and didn't charge bags or anything, how did Delta get your credit card number? Did Travelocity give it to them? I would have a big problem with Travelocity if that was the case. Maybe someone at Travelocity made a change to your ticket. I'm thinking Travelocity may be the problem here, not Delta.

OP...do you have any update? You posted last night and still haven't responded to anything. Please post what happened

On her other thread, last I checked, she posted that they say she made a change to her daughter's ticket, and this is a change fee.

When you purchase tickets through a agency, they forward the info to the Vender to complete the sale. Delta charged my credit card for my airline tickets. The same with my hotels, they charged my card. I received no charges from Travelocity.

It doesn't matter if they made a error in their initial billing. I have an invoice from Travelocity confirming my flight info, Delta charged me the exact price, to the penny. If Delta made a mistake listing the fare or forgot to update this site, it's their problem. Can you imagine if purchasing things, anything, only to have the vender come back & say they priced it wrong & need to charge you more???? This is why we have consumer protection laws.

I used to fly NW all the time. Their hub was in MN & I visited my family there several times a year. I always had good experiences with them. I was so sad when Delta gobbled them up.

I spoke w/ a very nice lady @ Travelocity. She could see no changes to our tickets, especially on their end. She had me fax everything over to her so they could work on it as well.

I'm pretty much done w/ Delta. I've asked them numerous times exactly what change was made. They tell me nothing. I find them condisending & agrogrant. I fly alot, I am not a "novice".

I've filed a dispute w/ my credit card company. Delta will have to prove to them what the change was and that they had my permission to charge my card. I highly doubt they will be able to do so as I believe the change was only made to increase the ticket price.

This is very odd, but have you actually spoken with the reservations / the re-issue desk at Delta? I would not bother emailing them for this issue. There is a corporate number listed on delta.com you can try if all else fails.
