Just wanted to say - we did it!!!!

After months of stalking each of you and your posts on here. Talking to several of you here and in private and doing two live tours at WDW (one in Dec and one last week) WE DID IT!!!

I am a stickler for spending money and putting my name on anything!! I do not even own a credit card lol. I am on the house though hehe.

But after seeing we are increasing our trips to the World and our love for Disney growing we wanted to lock in something as WDW seems to increase that dreadful 3-4 % like they keep saying. I hate paying more and lets face it the discounts are less and less and you still pay for them somewhere.

To make a long story short - to those who took time to babysit my questions and concerns here and behind the scenes and to those who keep dvc rockin on the disboards a big old thanks.

We already changed our ressies for our trip for the end of the year and I can not wait to hear 'Welcome Home'

We ended up buying with OKW. Was not my first pick for a home base as I wanted AKL or BLT but in the end its just points and I can add on and we decided to start cheaper with the points then add on in a year or so. I went with the $/discount incentive over the cruise.

Our ressies in Nov/Dec are AKL.

Did you get OKW directly thru disney?? All that was offered to us last week was California, AKL, or BLT. It sounds like you did, because of the discount. How many points did you end up with?

I had heard they were selling the older resorts to current members, but not new ones.

I just bought 100 pts thru Disney at OKW myself! It was our 1st choice since we wanted to be with the first DVC resort for historical purposes and also we wanted the laid back relaxing atmosphere it provides. And they are refurbishing the villas as we speak!

Yes, it was with Disney. We did the 160 to start so we could add on in pts of 25 or 50 as I really wanted BLT or AKL. I personally being stingy with my money could not justify the coughing up the maintance fees and such for the animals etc when OKW was so much cheaper. They showed several to us from there to Cali.


I hope to stay at OKW in the Spring.

But I can tell you that the studios and villas are much more roomier and they will stay with that throughout the refurbishment. They will be putting in new hardwood floors, granite countertops, new lamps and ceiling fans...theres a bunch more in a thread but I dont remember which one it is. Its titled OKW Refurbishment I think.

I will take pics when I go in Nov - maybe I will get a new one and can report back!

I am a new owner too and really enjoy saying that! We bought at BWV but for our first DVC trip this Sept we are heading to OKW. It looks like a beautiful resort, and so many good reviews. I can't wait! Congrats again!

Congratulations! We also just bought DVC last week while in Disney. Isn't it a great feeling?? We'll be staying at OKW for the first time in July, then we'll be "home" at Bay Lake Tower next April.

We jst bought SSR through resale a month ago. You will love OKW. We've stayed there twice and loved it each time. It's beautiful!
