About 2 years ago, we first began thinking of a trip to WDW for our family. I confess that we're not huge "Disney" fans per se, but our then 5 yo ds has a marked CAPD (central auditory processing disorder) and his year at pre-school had ended quite badly (we now happily homeschool for a number of good reasons). He's extremely visual, so all the ads we'd seen of WDW came to mind. You know my shock when I tried to price out the trip, paying "rack rate" for everything...there was no way our family with one income could afford it---just no way! THEN I discovered the DisBoards....WOW! Using codes and learning so many "insider" tips, we were not only able to make the trip a year ago May, but we even stayed at WL!!! We may not be Disney fanatics in general, but we HAVE become WDW fanatics! We managed to go again last January and I'm trying to see if we can swing it to go again this coming January.
I'm sure I'm not alone in my realization that our WDW trips would not have been possible--truly!--if these boards didn't exist, if good people weren't willing to take the time and effort to help others experience the magic.

Im so glad you got to go and that you joined the ranks of other Disney Addicts. I partially blame these boards for my addiction too.

These boards are invaluable to anyone new to Disney. I have learned stuff here the travel agents didn't know and have passed on to friends and family.

Thanks again for all the input on making planning the trip "almost" as fun as the trip.

I agree wholeheartedly. I only wish I had found these boards when planning our family trip last year! Lots of great information that you could NEVER get from a book. And everyone is so nice and helpful

I am more addicted to the DIS than Disney, though. It's true. I don't want a cure, either. It's a pretty harmless addiction, after all.

Isn't it fun hanging out with cyber kindred spirits? We may all be unique individuals but we all share a common interest, WDW. There is some really great information shared on these boards. There are so many WDW veterans ready to help us all plan a trip. The DIS makes planning a trip almost as much fun as the trip itself, at least for me that is true

The regular posters are a very giving group... have you ever seen such a large group of people that just want to help people?

I have to agree with the previous posts. I've been a WDW addict since my first visit in 1977, and until I discovered these boards I suffered in silence when I wasn't either at WDW or planning a trip.

Now, with all the information I've gained, I'm always either at WDW or planning a trip (or two or three)!

I've been able to save a little money on my trips, and to see and do lots of things that I think I just wouldn't have known about so I wouldn't know that I'd missed them !

The best moment came when I was in the local Disney Store chatting with my daughter-in-law about our upcoming stay at Pop Century. The CM at the cash register looked at us blankly and said "That's not opening any time soon". Well, thanks to DIS, I already had my reservations!

I'm glad you started this thread because I've been meaning to thank everyone ever since I returned 3 weeks ago. This trip we were able to experience things I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't seen it on the Dis.
A few of those things were:
- I made my family stop and watch the living statue at Italy, and it turned out to be a favorite! After that, my DH had to check to see when the next show was everytime we walked by.
- My son got a lizard from the candymaker in Japan.
- We saw Wes Palm and Devine at AK.
- We dined at Sci-Fi drive In and the rotating Garden Grill, which were both big hits with the kids.
- I surprised my DH with the Rehitching ceremony at the Garden Grill for our 25th anniversary.
I know there's more that I just can't think of right now, plus all the hints and tips that helped us so much.

ptrbryant.......count me in......what a great idea to let the webmasters and our Disfriends know how we feel. These boards have brought many people together, like pen pals! Alex is right.......so many wanting to help others. Like you, we could not have done disney without the tips we learned here. It enables so many families to really enjoy the parks and resorts to the fullest. These are memories that will last a lifetime. Keep up the good work everyone....and THANKS!

My husband and I would like to add our thanks to you all! If it weren't for all of you kind folks at the DIS, I never would have found out about the FTP, among other things. My DH, who has been teasing me for a couple of months, is now quite happy about my obsession with the DIS (since we're saving so much money)!

Your advice, tips and opinions have been so helpful, and it's great to know that I am not alone in my love of WDW! Now if only I could live at the GF...

I, too, am a WDW addict - I was never much for the computer but thanks to finding the DIS - I now find myself on the computer every day for a few years now.
This is a site that I stumbled on when looking for some other ways for my family to enjoy our many trips to WDW. The knowledge of the many people here has made my family think I know a lot of the answers when it comes to WDW. Thanks DIS!
I too would like to thanks Pete for creating a place for all of us to enjoy and share our thoughts on a place we all like to visit time and again!

Don't say "Duh" when you read this, but I never knew what those Sponsor headings meant before. ("Duh" warning.) Just took a chance and double clicked on it to find out. LOL

As much as I read these boards, (the Community Forum is a favorite when I'm not planning a trip,) it was an excellent plug. When you're dealing with someone who's still got the first nickel they ever earned, you know you're dealing with a tightwad, but I'm going to sponsor some kind of way.

Saved $120 last week due to the kindness of someone on these boards, so have to something to make sure others can participate.
