Just wanted to let everyone know our experience with this program. We recently returned from Disney and used our Owners Locker for the first time. It was great. The locker was waiting for us at SSR when we arrived and at the end of our trip we stuffed it full called bell services and sent it off until our next trip. The next day I received an email from them saying the locker had been picked up and safely put away. It was flawless. We figure it will eliminate one suitcase next trip and we won't be packing liquids that could spill. I would highly recommend it.
I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have.:thumbsup2

Rob,

I'm so glad you started this. I was going to look for a thread or start one about this the other day. But the Dis was not co-operating .

I love my box. It was such a joy to just put my hair products in there! I'm sure most of the woman reading this can understand that. ;)

How early before you checked out did you call Bell Services to pickup the box? I walked mine over at OKW in Feb. It was a short walk but that box was heavy after I put my items in.

It isn't eliminating a suitcase for me yet. Not even half a suitcase but Feb was a short trip. I figure after my Oct and Dec trip, I'll have that box FULL. This will make last minute trips a lot easier since I don't have to run around buying/looking for the usual supplies and make sure they are in my suitcase.

Did you know you could share the box with other friends/family? All we have to do is put in their arrival/departure dates and it works the same. I'm sure that would be great for those who always travel together and it can help on sharing the cost of the box for those who are frugal like me.

I'll be happy to try and help answer questions too if Rob doesn't get to them first.

My experience was the same as Rob & Jan's...our locker was waiting for us at check in (at BCV in March) - there was a note about it that came up - the Front Desk CM mentioned it before we had even completed the check in process. I was delighted - everything about the locker really did work exactly as they had described when I signed up for the service.
I had purchased some things specifically to leave them in our locker for every trip - pop up laundry hampers (love these - only about $6 at Wal-mart), clothes pins (so I can fit more on those short little clotheslines and rod in the bathroom), various hygiene and personal items I would rather not have to pack every time - including some first aid stuff...and we came up with a few rather bulky things that when we were packing we decided we really didn't need to bring home with us. A swimming mask for DS, DH's Disney crocs (he has another pair at home and only has limited use for them since he needs orthotics). We often stay in studios at DVC resorts, so next trip I'm going to bring a set of real cutlery so we don't have to deal with plastic spoons, forks and knives. It will save us a call to mousekeeping. As a result of using the locker, I am certain we will be able to travel with one less bag next trip - and packing should be simpler with a much shorter checklist.
Bell Services came to our villa took our locker with our luggage when we were checking out - although our flight wasn't till later in the day, so we stored our bags with them until it was time for the Magical Express pickup. The CM at Bell Services told us when we returned to retrieve our bags for the ME bus that our Owner's Locker had already been picked up. EXCELLENT service. I definitely recommend it to anyone who takes regular trips to WDW.

Thanks WDWR, from the time we called bell services I'd say maybe 10 min's. same as if you were having your luggage picked up. Since were not travelling with kids anymore we stored some part bottles of adult beverages,:drinking1 we also stay in studio's quite often so my wife put an inexpensive kettle and a set of cutlery as wel as a set of sheets. She's even talking about a second one.

A second one is so tempting. It screams decorations! I normally go in Oct and Dec. I want to store Halloween and Christmas stuff in a box. I could probably still fit a few small things for each holiday in my box. But I'd love to put a mini tree with decorations and some sort of pumpkin that lights up in there. Oh and wrapping paper, tape and such. I swap presents during Dec and you can't take wrapped presents in your luggage.

I can see this Owners Locker could almost start a case of addonitis like you get with a DVC purchase. ;)

We also go at Christmas and I mentioned that to one of the owners at "ownerslocker" when I was looking into the program and he said they actually have a Christmas locker on the drawing board which would have a 3 1/2 foot tree on one side and the other side would be open to put your own decorations in.

Hey Rob & Jan and wdwr,

Here's a photo of what our prototype Christmas Locker is looking like so far. It would come with an artificial tree on one side and plenty of room for decorations on the other. We're looking at two sizes--3 foot and 4 1/2 foot. The one shown is the larger one. We'll let you know when this becomes available, what the pricing will be, etc.

Looks great John, no more xmas decorations to pack, can't wait.

John,

You wrote "comes with a tree". Are you trying to get me to decorate more than I already do? :)

Is that a typo or are you really supplying a mini fake tree with the boxes and then all we have to do is get our own decorations??

I hear the Disney Christmas stores calling my name now!!!!! (and maybe the nearest Dollar Store right after Halloween)

Okay, I hope I don't sound totally brainless, but could someone please explain an "owner's locker" to me - please? :confused3 It sounds intriguing and I've never heard of it in all the DIS Board reading I've done (and I've done a lot!). Thanks for being patient with me!

Not brainless at all, iluveeyore, Owner's Locker is a new business that has been discussed at length on the Disney Vacation Club Boards here on The DIS. We provide you with a container to store your vacation gear; we pick it up from your resort when you leave, keep it in our climate controlled warehouse and then have it waiting for you when you come back. There's a link to the website at the top of these forums.Hope this helps,
John
