Great pics! Looking forward to more!

I wonder if I can order that Quesidilla at WP without the chicken? Or no because it's a counter service...

Hi I believe you could do that. They have a cook right there, its not premade, so i bet they would be accomodating.. Just tell him chicken doesnt agree with you. They are big on accomodating allergies.

Mandy :) thanks, its a lot of work to write all that LOL. I am starting back to work tomorrow night :( but i'll continue to work on them. Some days we were "off" or just had one meal, but we still have a ton of them to go :) (ohana, kona, cali grill, spoodles, crystal palace etc)

Day 4 of our Magical Stay at Disney.

On this day we slept in a bit, not waking up until closer to 8:30 am. My DH and son went to eat at the POR food court, which no pics were taken. My DD and I slept during this.

When they returned my DH wanted to rent a boat and drive thru sassaquala river system and then fish on the dock at POR. DD and I had no interest in this so off we went to DTD.

Copy5ofdtddisneyMKday1001.jpg

DTD was really cute and fun. We immediately ate at Earl of Sandwich. Boy was it crowded at it was only 11:15. You know though for the money you couldn’t beat it (even though it was free for us, still under 5.00 for a huge sandwich which some could easily share) we also bought 1.00 bags of chips which for Disney I thought was so cheap.

Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce . This was wonderful. The roast beef was so tender and just perfect.

Copy5ofdtddisneyMKday1022.jpg

The Florentine - grilled chicken, creamed spinach, mushrooms and parmesan cheese, This was fabulous! Sooo good and rich!

Copy5ofdtddisneyMKday1023.jpg

This was ok. It was a little dry but had good flavor..oh btw this is bread pudding :)

After lunch DH brought DS to me to spend a bit of time at DTD.
Copy5ofdtddisneyMKday1036.jpg

my little big bad wolfe

We went into Goofys Candy shop. He picked out a Carmel Apple to be custom made. That thing was chocked full of yummy cavity filled goodness! LOL

Copy5ofdtddisneymkday1031.jpg

you pick what you want on the apple and they make it for you, not a bad buy. 5 bucks or so.

Copy5ofdtddisneymkday1028.jpg

Copy5ofdtddisneyMKday1082.jpg

this thing was as big as his head i swear.

Copy5ofdtddisneyMKday1019.jpg

Copy5ofdtddisneyMKday1018.jpg

Since we actually HAD NOT eaten at goofys lol, we decided to head over to Ghirardelli’s Ice Cream Shoppe. Ummmm…YUM

Copy5ofdtddisneymkday1037.jpg

Very Berry Sundae - A scoop of premium strawberry cheesecake ice cream smothered with sliced strawberry topping under a layer of blueberry cheesecake ice cream, blueberry topping, whipped cream, our chocolate berry blues and a hand made chocolate dipped waffle roll $6.95
this was good, be prepared it has chunks of cheesecake that i didnt care for to much, it would have been better with vanilla :)

Copy5ofdtddisneymkday1039.jpg

Then it was off to Port Orleans French Quarter for a swim. Cute pool, not fantabulous, but cute. Here I had a really tasty (not strong) tropical pina colada.

After a nice swim, we head back to POR to get ready for our dinner at Ohana. I’ve been looking forward to this dinner for quite a while and was really excited to get in there and order my Lapu Lapu.

ohana!

Upon arrival we checked in to the hostess desk, where the manager was actually working. I asked him for a window seat overlooking the Castle, and he did say the wait would be 20 minutes. I was fine with that. Our ADR’s were 7:20 so we had tons of time before WISHES.

Heres my opportunity to order my Lapu Lapu. It was good but not as strong as I was previously told it would be. Probably just the difference in bartender. I will say that it doesn’t hold as much “fluid” as it looks like it would. My DD 22 took a big drink and 1/3 was sucked down LOL. At 13.00 a pop I didn’t order another.

Copy2ofdtddisneymkday1083.jpg

Lapu Lapu - Tropical fruit juices and Myers dark rum served in a fresh pineapple topped with Bacardi

Less than 10 minutes of waiting and our table was ready. We had a great seat right by a window. Couldn’t have asked for better.

We did NOT have a good waitress here. She was hurried and absent most of the night. I had to ask other waiters or our manager (who came by to say happy birthday) for refills. Our meat servers were good though and kept us full. We did get refills on chicken wings and potatoes. Our server was so lax that she even charged us for a kid’s meal on our bill, which if I was wanted to be a bad dis’er I could have paid OOP, but instead I had her change it to an adult credit. Ok, that should earn me a spot in heaven right? Hehee

Dinner was good though. I liked the beef, but didn’t try the turkey or pork…pretty much just a beef eater.

The salad was REALLY good, loved the dressing, everyone loved the potatoes and the chips. The shrimp were NOT a big hit as they had legs on them and except for DH who loves shrimp; no one was hungry enough to rip off the legs of our dinner. The rest of us opted for the food that had no appendages.

Fried Wontons served with peanut sauce, chimichurri sauce and harissa
Mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing

forgot to take pics of shrimp and wings..dont ask why??

Dessert was very good. Not as good as I hoped because of the rave reviews, and possible because our terrible waitress left us with a tiny bit of banana foster sauce that literally had 2 slices of banana in the entire sauce. I was disappointed. Again, she assumed my DS was under 9, he is smallish, and brought him ice-cream with sprinkles, which was actually what he wanted anyway, so that worked out.

dtddisneyMKday1115.jpg

dtddisneyMKday1116.jpg

Wishes started and they piped in the music. It was so noisy, you would think, people would speak in hushed tones, but a party or adults next to us kept on talking really loud not even paying attention to wishes. I understand they are adults and enjoying dinner, but its 10 minutes, and how can you be at
WDW and NOT want to watch wishes if its RIGHT there? LOL, I swear I was confused by that. Anyway, they didn’t dim the lights but you could hear a bit of the music. It was beautiful.

Luckily for us the electric light parade also went by, it was really fun.

My son had THE best time ever doing the Limbo and learning to Hula dance and marching in the parade.

Copy4ofdtddisneymkday1096.jpg
omgosh im embarrassed, he has wing sauce all over his face lol!

Copy4ofdtddisneyMKday1103.jpg

intently learning the hula dance lol

LIMBO BABY!

All in all we enjoyed this meal very much, mostly because of the view and the things for the kids to do. The food was a bit above average. Service not so good.

I defiantly would eat here again though!
Food ***, Service **, Atmosphere ****

Coming up next, The MAGIC KINGDOM at last!! CS at Columbia Harbor house and dinner at Kona! Yeah baby!

Great reviews & pics! I agree about the bread at Coral Reef. DH and I ordered two baskets! He hardly wanted his dessert because he kept eating the bread, that was ok, more Chocolate Wave for me :teeth:

No its not butter. Have you ever had it? Wierd, I actually talked to the girl. I asked her if that was butter on top because it looks like butter, but Its bavarian custard. Vanilla.

BTW I just found the recipe and listed it below. There is only 5 tbsp of butter in the entire recipe, so for what your making that isnt so bad. These things are hungous!

actually here is the recipe from Allearsnet.com

Recipe
School Bread

Kringla Bakery
Norway Pavilion, Epcot

Ingredients

2 pints water
3 ounces dry yeast
3 1/2 ounces sugar
2 1/2 ounces butter (melted)
1 teaspoon cardamom
2 pounds flour
1 whole egg
8 ounces shredded coconut
12 ounces vanilla custard

Method

Heat water and butter to 95 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, cardamom, yeast, and egg together for five minutes until dough is stiff. Form it like a ball and place in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let proof for 45 minutes, or until dough has doubled in size. Roll the dough out like a sausage and cut into five ounce pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and put them on a non-stick sheet pan and let them proof for 30 minutes. Bake for 15 minutes in 375 degree oven. Let cool.

Mix powdered sugar and water (use small amounts until proper consistency is achieved) to make icing and place in shallow pan. Form hole in bread using finger. Dip bread in icing (hole side down) and sprinkle with shredded coconut. Using pastry bag, squeeze vanilla custard inside of hole and swirl at top for decoration.

Vanilla Custard

Ingredients

1 2/3 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 egg yolks
1 tablespoon corn starch

Method

In heavy saucepan bring milk to a boil. Set aside. In bowl, beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla until the mixture doubles by volume. Add the hot milk a few drops at a time to temper the eggs. Mix well after each addition. Place in metal mixing bowl and place over double boiler. Dissolve cornstarch in a little water and add in a thin stream while stirring constantly until it thickens to proper consistency. It must not boil. Cool by placing pan in ice bath.

UMMMMM. All the food look great. I can't wait until our next trip in May 2007 where I'll have to try out some of them for myself. Especially the School Bread!!! :)

What a great food trip report.
Now I have to go over to the trip board & read all about your trip!
Thanks for the pictures & in depth notes.
We are staying at the Poly in Jan/Feb next year & my DD will be 9, so I am thinking of doing O'hana. I don't think I want to make an ADR now, rather wait until we get there & if we can't get in, so be it. My only concern is the veggies look funky, my dd won't eat chicken wings & we are HUGE ranch dressing fans on our salad. Adventurous in the food department we are NOT!
I can't wait to read more.
You have a very beautiful family also.

Lisa

Things to remember for next WDW visit:

Dinner at Coral Reef - Check.

School Bread - Check.

Lunch at Cantina De San Angel - Check.

Goofy's Candy Shop - Check checkity check check and double check! :teeth:

And I must say. Goofy's Candy Company...Oh my! Just looking at the picture is calorically sinful. I think I gained a pound just by salivating over all the goods. Honey, point me the way to Goofy's!!!

I guess it depends on who's working there.I had it once and thought prior to eating it and seeing the pic's it would be custard. So I got it last month and
was surprised when I bit it and asked the girl at the counter if it was butter and was told it was? Who knows, whatever it was in it I didn't care for it to much anyways.Nice pic's BTW.

that is wierd? esp. since butter isnt even an ingredient in the custard lol.

i guess you got a funky one? Mine were both so fresh and cold and yummmmy. Seriously of all the food i ate that week, by far that is my number one favorite :)

thanks for the compliments :)

chances are with the changes in kids menus and that its a family style restaurant with kids getting to indulge in the reg menu items instead of funky grilled chicken sticks and carrots lol, i bet it will be more crowded and harder to getinto then ever.

If you like steak, turkey, pork, etc, then atleast you have that. Oh i so skipped the veggies, but i HATE veggies. I liked the dressing, it was sweet, and clear, so it was mild, my picky son even liked it lol. The potatoes are to die for!

I would make an ADR just for the kids, they will have fun and there is plenty to eat, plus ask for that window seat! :)

for those of you who liked Goofy's, your in for a treat. I didnt even take enough pics of that place (but i do have more to come, we had pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate and carmel and white chocolate with cookie crumbs..yum and more rice krispy treats :) ) you'll see later muhahahahw!
