I just decided at the last minute to change my resort ressie from AKL to WL. Something about the seclusion of AKL just didn't appeal to me. Please reassure me that I made a good decision and that I will LOVE the WL!

I LOVE WL. It is my favorite resort in terms of theming. It also helps that at least it has a boat to MK. AKL has no non-bus transport to any of the parks. I'm sure AKL is nice, but I need something besides a bus to at least one of the parks if I'm paying deluxe prices.

We stayed in WL this past Dec and LOVED IT!!! It was amazing. I love the location. Since you are going w/o kids you can easily spend a day at the resort, renting water mice or bikes. The boat ride to MK is great and convienent.

While we never stayed at AKL, my DBF's sister and her family did and we visited. They opted to drive everywhere, so I'm not too sure about the transportation. The resort is beautiful, afterall its Disney, but if I had to choose, I would go hands down with WL.

You will not regret it! Have a great time!

Depends what you are looking for. WL was fine when we stayed there, although I would not stay there again. Parking was a LONG way from our room. Our room was dirty (as in not cleaned at all) when we checked in. Could not even get into our room until after 7pm. The resort was full, so that may have had something to do with it. Have not stayed at AKL - just visited - seemed very much the same as WL. I'm sure either will be fine.

I absolutely live BOTH resorts. But you cannot beat the boat to MK...it also goes to FW which is cool, they have a free petting zoo and also pony rides...and the campfire with Chip and Dale! There is another boat that will take you to the Contemporary, and from there you can ride the monorail to the Poly or GF or MK...or to the TTC and go to Epcot!

I couldn't get WL Standard when I was originally going to buy an AP and was settling for $155 pool view AKL.

When the Free Dining Plan came out, I said to myself 'this is crazy! My gut says to book WL.'

So I booked Courtyard, which was all that was left, and I'm saving and cutting corners from now until October. Amazingly, I'm almost there. I wasn't so motivated to save for the AKL ressie.

So I say 'go with your gut!' :flower:

WL is our favorite resort...we will be returning for the 3rd time in 12 months in Dec.! My dh loves the fact that everything is under 1 roof so you don't have to go outside to get to dining, guest services, etc. We're staying at the Villas in Dec. for the 1st time and can't wait! :goodvibes

While WL is our favorite resort, AKL is pretty neat too. I think some folks are forgetting the whole animal aspect- there are animals right at the resort, which is way cool, and you don't need a safari view ($$$) to enjoy them!
But I like WL better too...

I loved AKL, and did not think it was secluded. The bus service was great, 7/4/04, never waited more then 10-15 min for a bus. The food was wonderful, the view unbelievable, just loved the everything about the hotel. Have a magical time at WL.

I think they are both Great!

I stayed at AKL in May and WOW was it so much better then what I heard. The rooms were not dark if you are worried about that and the animals and detail to all of the wood work and art are so wonderful. Lets face it how many Hotels do you know in the USA have wild animals right outside your room. I think AKL doesn't get enough credit of how close it copies a real hotel thats in Africa. ( I am saying this because my husband had just been to S.Africa for work and stayed at a real resort like AKL . He said that Disney did a Wonderful job of making it so much like a real one in S. Africa)

I also would like to stay at WL in the cabins I think that would be great to but it is not going to be as different as AKL. I really would like to stay at all of the WDW resorts if ever possible. LOL
Just wanted to let you know my thoughts because I think if possible I would tell everyone to stay at AKL at least once because it is so different.

Thanks so much to all of you for the reassurance. It isn't that I don't think AKL is nice or that I wouldn't like it at all, but my "gut" was telling me to book WL - that I would enjoy that better for this occasion. Thanks to everyone and dance with me!!!! :cool1:
