Just switched from WL to AKL...

I wasn't able to get any discount for the WL for my travel dates. I saw an offer for AKL savannah for only $75 less than what I was paying rack rate for woods view at WL. That small amount wasn't worth the change to me. However, today, while checking the AP site, just to see if anything new had opened up, I see a standard at AKL for $348 less than my rack rate room at WL. So, I switched. I was really excited about staying at the WL, but I'm sure I can get just as excited about staying at the AKL. Both are amazing resorts. Plus, saving that much makes my DH very happy.

I left AKL on Aug 12th after 7 nights in a savannah view room. I absolutely loved, Loved, LOVED that resort! I'm a TA and was working every afternoon. Looking outside past the balcony and seeing giraffe and zebra and wildebeast was just wonderful. We go to Disney a couple of times a year, and I am scheming to get back there. I like my Disney resorts to play pretend, and AKL did a great job of transporting me to someplace else.

I've never stayed at either resort before. This is our first stay in a deluxe. We're doing a split stay - 3 nights now at AKL and 6 at BCV. I've been inside both resorts and they are both gorgeous! I think the WL is a bit more masculine & therefore thought it would appeal to my DH. If you have kids, both resorts seem to have a lot of activities for kids. I liked the WL's proximity to the MK, but one of our days during this first part of our trip will be at AK. Both offer the chance of bunk beds (which is a plus for my kids!).

So, I can't say that this change is **better** from a resort stand point. The issue for me right now is that I am now staying at AKL for 3 nights for less than what it would cost to stay 2 nights at WL with no discount.

We are still keeping our "date night" dining plans at WL. We're eating at Artist Point and the kids are going to the Cub's Den. While I know that Jiko gets rave reviews on these boards, we tried it a couple of years ago & just weren't at all impressed. We're excited to try Artist Point. Since we will have our car, we plan to drive over to the WL instead of relying on Disney transportation to get there. That would be a long trip.

I'm sure I haven't helped your decision. While I know I would LOVE the WL, the price made it worth trying the AKL. And I'm sure we will love it too.
