Me and my entire family wanted to take our 2nd DCL trip the summer of 2005. Of course with the Magic now going to CA we will not be doing that. So I decide to call and ask some questions about summer of 2006. I asked when they would put out the dates for summer of 2006 and the CM said probably not until sometime in 2005!!! I then went on to say that there are rumors that the boat may head back to CA for 2006 to finish up DL celebration and she said that is very possible that DCL was waiting to see how 2005 was being recieved. When I asked how it was doing she said it is doing AWESOME. I told her that did not make me feel very optomistic that the Magic would be in Port Canaveral for 2006(summer) and she said in her honest opinion she didn't think it would be. She said either way that DCL has not even started to look at ports of call for 2006 one way or the other. If this holds out to be true looks like we will be taking our bookings of 6 cabins to another cruise line. Just thought I would pass along what I was just told.

This could be an opportunity, though. If DCL receives enough "suggestions" from their customer base that the Wonder should alternate 3/4/7 day cruises in 2006, they may listen, since they still have the opportunity to make that decision.

I would recommend emailing or writing to DCL and ask for the reinstatement of the 7-day cruise in the summer of 2006.

Good luck!!

but there is a 2006 silver lining .... they won't be releasing Wonder itineraries and withholding Magic itineraries (for some silly announcement in DLR ;) ) ... they can release all of the 2006 itineraries at the same time.

So this time around they CAN (if they so choose) have the Wonder do a combination of 3,4 and 7 day itineraries (like 3 day, 4 day, 7 day western, 3 day, 4 day, 7 day eastern, repeat.....).

That seems to be one of the biggest complaints about 2005 is that there aren't even a handful of 7 day itineraries for the summer. If they'd done that to the Wonder itineraries for 2005 they would've had to withhold those announcements until May 5, or it would've created even more speculating if we'd seen 3-4-7 day offerings for the Wonder (it would've basically given away the "surprise" that they were moving the Magic west for 4 months).

I heard about 2006 (CALIF) before the 2005 summer cruises were even offered. Disney Staff has traveled abroad, and there has been "talk" (in Burbank) of adding a third ship to the Disney fleet. This NEW ship, would be stationed off the coast of Florida, (PC), and the MAGIC would permanently settle off the coast of CALIF. ::yes:: Wonderful news for us CALIF Cruise~LOVERS! :teeth:

Whenever they finally get around to ordering the 3rd ship, it won't be built in time to sail for summer 2006 - which is why there's already murmurs about the Magic doing the repo thing one more time in 2006. Hopefully the 3rd ship can be in play by 2007 though. :teeth:

BF thinks they are going to put out a 3rd ship in 2006...2007 seems more realistic to me...but we will see...
*pout* I hate it when he's right...so maybe DCL will do me this one little justice and hold off until 2007!!! *LOL*

Well they haven't order the ship yet - and probably won't until next year - and it'll take 2 years probably to get it built and in service, so that's why I'm guessing 2007 (who's up for the maiden voyage????).

Where's Horace Horsecollar when we need him????

::yes:: This would be wonderful! Or do I mean magical?

I've been told that they are currently bidding out at least one new ship (in some cases, the story is they're bidding two). Anyway, if they sign a deal and begin construction on a third ship sometime this summer, it should easily be in service by early 2006. That's a lot of "ifs" and I'm not sure how close they are to actually beginning construction, but it takes a little less than a year and a half from laying the keel until the ship is delivered. (For example, they laid the keel for the QM2 in July of 2002 and the ship was in service by the end of 2003). The rumored 90,000-ton DCL ship(s) should not take as long as the monstrous QM2, which displaces over 150,000 tons.

Where do you get all this info???
Why do I feel so out of the look?

Where do you get all this info???

I cull it from various sources. Cruise News Daily is a good source, I have a couple of friends who work in the industry, and Google is a good way to find things. It's actually amazing how much mundane info is on the web. What's possibly more amazing is that there are people like me who have nothing better to do than to look it up.

well by all means! keep passing it on!!! Thanks!

So, I was thinking...maybe BF and I should make a friendly wager...if the new ship is put inservice in 2006-I'll pay for the cruise...if the ship comes inservice in 2007-he pays for the cruise...
What do you think??!!??!!

KEEP ME POSTED -IF HE BUYS INTO IT...I WANNA WIN...or heck...at least either way we will still end up on a cruise... :)

I guess maybe we'll have to do a 4 day in 2006 and save for 2007???!!!???!!!
