We just returned from a wonderful 8 day vacation at Disney. Our family had a blast. I thought I would just jot some tips down that we found to be really helfpul. Hope they will help your vacation be as much fun as our vacation!

* Throw some extra plastic hangers in your suitcase. We stayed at All Star Movie (which was great and the food at the food court is really good) and it had a nice dresser with deep drawers and a rack for clothes, but limited number of hangers. Our plastic hangers allowed us to hang much more
* If you are taking a digital camera, take at least two sets of batteries for your camera. If all possible, take two chargers so you can charge both sets at night so you are ready to go each day
* If you are trying to save some money on food, pack breakfast items to eat in your room. We took cereals (and bought milk in the gift shop), bagels, breakfast bars, etc. It saved us about $15-20 each morning.
* Plan! I usually don't plan our vacations, but I found that our planning paid off. We did everything we wanted to do, including every parade, every show and every ride and never felt overwhelmed or rushed!
* Pack comfortable walking shoes because you do nothing but walk, walk and walk!
* Program any travel numbers you may need into your phone - kids' physicians (which we had to call while we were there for a severe stomach ache), airlines, travel agent, etc.
* If you plan on going to see Fantasmic, make reservations a head of time at one of the restaurants in MGM that gives ticket vouchers for reserved seating at the show - gives you more time in the park so you aren't standing in line forever.
* When you get to the parks, start at the back of the parks and work your way up. There were many mornings that we were the only ones at the back of the park and we had zero lines to see characters or rides.

Hope your vacation is as magical as our vacation was this past week!

All of the above are good tips. Especially regarding extra hangers, and the one about advance planning. As a solo traveler there's no way I would visit any of the four parks without making a detailed itinerary using past experience, and a good guide book, to map out what works and what will not work at the parks.

I do not use the touring plans published in guide books because they include attractions that I do not want to visit, involve needless backtracking and do not allow for the meal reservations that I always make to jive with my itinerary.

When my itinerary results in extra time between attractions, I grab a drink, watch the crowd go past, enjoy the sights, and feel sorry for the many people who are studying the park map trying to decide what to do next, studying the show times, or looking lost in general. I bet that next time they'll plan in advance.

Enjoy.

Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose, and Brown Derby. Enjoy! :)

A couple of things really helped us. Everyone (yes I mean everyone) had a fanny pack. The kids filled them with snacks before we headed out each morning and it was the biggest blessing. DS4 had to have a snack (I'm starving) by the time we got to the bus line each morning. I could have sworn we just ate! :rotfl2:

Wear matching shirts or a color of the day. With us, my mom and aunt, it made 8 and it was so much easier to keep track of everyone. And as a bonus our pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Incredilbe are so darn cute with all of us in Incredible t-shirts. :teeth:

I also tie-dyed sweatshirts (with a Mickey head in the middle) for everyone. We were big and bright and no one ever got lost! We got many comments on how smart it was to wear something that stood out.
