Just some AP questions.

I'm in the middle of working out whether we can afford another trip to DL. So I have a few questions.

If I was to buy 2 deluxe annual passes can I get discounted hotel rates, even though I wont be getting the passes until we are there to check in? If you can get the discounts, where can I look up to see what sort of prices I'd be looking at?

I don't need parking, so we wont worry about that.

I know without the AP I can get 8 nights in a good neighbour hotel, 8 days in the park, 2 magic mornings and a goofy's kitchen meal for $1079, for the 2 of us.

I want to go on the Segway tour around DCA and we're going to be eating at a lot more restaurants this time around, so there should be discounts there too.

Does anyone have any further thoughts or suggestions about getting or not getting an AP?

I regret not getting one last time now, but I really think this would probably be the last trip for us for a while...

So what can you tell me?
What have I forgotten about?
I won't get any MM with an annual pass unless I stay onsite will I?

You didn't say when you plan to go. The AP rates on the disney hotels in the summer aren't great, however, usually in the fall they have much better AP rates. Last fall you could get PP for 129. plus tax. We did pp concierge for 189 a night. I purchased our AP's from the hotel when we checked in. We are planning another trip this fall (to use the AP's one more time.)

You can get AP or DISboard discounts at Hojos (call the hotel and ask to speak with in-house reservations, not the reservation line). The Entertainment card rate is also applicable for Nov 11-19. You can call and see if they have any rooms (it's $59/night for the deluxe and $74/night for the premium) and book - you just need the Entertainment book card for when you check in.

If you have annual passes, you can only get the Magic Mornings if you stay onsite - If you don't get the APs, you can get two Magic Mornings from getawaytoday.com with park hoppers.

Nope, your whole party (I think up to 5-6 people) would get the discount if it's on the same bill - not separated.

The whole party gets a discount, we have used it for groups up to 6.
The hotel discounts aren't great, the Ent Rate at HoJo is much better. BUT, we did stay at GCH in November 07 for $229 a night/DTD view. Loved it!!! And then we stayed at the PP in Jan. for $129 a night. The best reason to get one is to go back more than once a year, but the discounts are good too! lol

Last year there were some amazing onsite rates. Just wait a month or two, and when people start seeing those rates, you'll hear about them.

Considering we got 5 day hoppers and 4 nights onsite for 2 adults and one 3 year old for well over that, that price is pretty good.


You could crunch the numbers to see if upgrading one of you to the AP from the 8 day hopper would be helpful with the food and Segway discount. Although I've read direct experience that you cannot book the Segway with the AP discount (you pay when you book) unless you have that activated AP already.

(if you upgrade from the 8 day hoppers, if you're staying off site you will want to wait until after the second MM entry to do so, otherwise the AP holder will be stuck outside while the family is having fun in DL)

All you need to do is buy your local entertainment book and bring the card with you when you check in.

Make sure you get the one valid for your dates, though! The main book expires in November (some individual coupons expire later, but the card's expiration date is important for HoJo).

Thanks for all of the input. I was able to get both the 08 and 09 books on the website (BTW they are having a special now if you buy one year you get the other for free!!). I was able to get a 5-night stay at Hojo from 10/19-10/24 at the $59 rate and I'll have the 09 book for our trip next year!!
