In case you're wondering how much Plato's Closet pays for clothes...the answer is NOT MUCH.

DS15 has grown a lot, and I had a stack of 5 pairs of outgrown, name brand jeans in fantastic condition. Our neighborhood is not a good one for garage sales, so I thought I'd send DH to Plato's Closet to see what he could be for them.

They only wanted two of them. For the two pair, DH walked away with a grand total of ... [drumroll]...$3.15. I knew we wouldn't get much, but I figured $2 a pair.

was wondering about that place...

how much would you buy them for there?

What's the markup?

I think that guy's jeans would go for $10-$12.

I have bought from them before. IMHO I think you get better deals from the sales. They sell jeans for $12-$20 a pair. When they have clearance sales is when you get the bargins. The fall is when sumer t shirts go on sale for buck a piece. I tend to stock up for the up coming year. As for selling to them, it depends on the store and who works it. We have 2 Plato's in our area, one is not as picky and they pay ok, the other one will only take Abercrombie, American Eagle, and Tommy. My sister took in a coach purse that was used just for the season and they wanted to give her $5.00, they were selling the same one with a hole in it for $50.00 :confused3 Go figure! I think you would do better on ebay!

 my dd12 bought a Dooney and Burke purse for 30.00 and a new pair of flip flops that were thick for 3.00 but the clothes our 1 store has they are kinda shabby, I was surprised! I won't bother taking dd's stuff out there.!

Here's a deal for you Dooney and Bourke lovers. Buy all those D&B's as cheap as you can, then send them back to Dooney and Bourke and they will give you credit toward a new purse. A friend told me about how her DD did this. I didn't think it was true, so I called D&B and they confirmed it was true. They will give you the address where to send them and everything. I don't think you get a whole lot for the ones you send in, so I think it's best to shop around at yard sales and places like that.

Jeans do well on ebay. I've gotten $10+ for a single pair of children's pants and that was before she started wearing only Abercrombie. Once she grows those will sell for more based on the auctions I've looked at.
