Really quick RL update! I'm happy to say I'm finally feeling better! I'm still in a bit rough shape, this turned into bronchitis which turns out is way worse than just a head cold so it's been a very slow recovery, but my energy is almost back to normal. I'm still coughing up a storm, but it is getting slightly better every day.

One unfortunate side effect is apparently you can strain your neck from coughing too much/too hard, learned that the hard way. :rotfl2: I laugh, but it's actually really painful and I can hardly move my head now, but if anything it's training me to do my best not to violently cough like I had been. I'm just a walking disaster at this point. Oh well, I'm just thrilled my energy is back and besides the obnoxious coughing and the new neck pain, I'm feeling a LOT better. I felt so good I wrote the next two installments of this TR today! Now I just need to go through the pictures, but I should get those posted in the next day or so!

I also realized that I need to book our ADRs for out next trip this week! EEK! How did that come up so fast!?!? At least for December I don't think we're trying for any hard to get reservations, so in theory it should be a smooth booking process (hopefully).

Alright, that's it for updates for today, hope everyone has an amazing Friday and a great weekend!

Glad you are feeling better! I was sick in the begining of September and it wasn't anything major but it felt like It took forever for me to feel myself again!

Bronchitis is serious! My daughter had bronchitis, and she was down for a couple weeks. I hope you feel better fast.

Thanks! Yeah, there's been a lot of the crud going around, I feel like the last two months at work there has been at least one person out sick each week. Just that time of year I guess! Glad you're feeling better as well!

Thanks! Yeah, this isn't fun. I've only had it once before, and that was when I was like 10, so I'm not used to having all this chest congestion. The doctor said I could have this cough for 3-4 weeks, which I'm not thrilled about, but at least I have my energy back and am feeling better!

Day 1, Part 2: Bourbon Steak!

We last left off heading to the Beach Club from the airport.

I arrived at the Beach Club right at 6, and my mom was outside waiting for me. We quickly hugged, praised (and tipped) Brandon for being so awesome to us, then headed inside.

We had originally had dinner reservations at Bourbon Steak at 6:45, but with all the delays I switched it to 7:15 earlier in the afternoon to give myself a better chance of making it there on time.

Fortunately, I made it with enough time to even shower before dinner! So we headed upstairs to get ready.

I quickly checked out our room, we were in room 4704, which looked out towards the bus stop and had a juliet balcony. Funny enough I was so flustered when I arrived, I totally missed that we didn’t have a full balcony even though I went out on it. Plus, it kinda blended in with the roof below. My mom mentioned the small balcony at dinner and I was SO confused, but yeah, she was right, it was a small one! :rotfl2:

Anyways, I took a quick shower and got ready for dinner. We headed out at 6:55 and arrived at Bourbon Steak at 7:10.

We quickly got checked in and were led to one of the smaller back rooms. I will note, I wish we were in the main dining room instead, the room we were in was SOOOO loud. It didn’t help that there were two 12+ person parties in there who were very loud, but even after they left it was still super loud where we had to yell across the table to hear each other. I think with all the hard surfaces in there and the size of the room, the acoustics were just amplified. The main dining room didn’t seem nearly as loud, so next time we’ll definitely ask to be seated there instead.

Anyways, to start we both ordered drinks. Mom got the Bayside, and I got the Fruit Ninja. Both were really really good!

Shortly after the drinks arrived, our starter fries arrived! I kind of love that instead of having bread service here, they have fries! We really enjoyed each of these.

We also ordered appetizers, mom got the hearts of palm salad and I got the bacon wrapped scallops.

The scallops were amazing, actually my favorite thing I ate this evening, I would order these again in a heartbeat! The salad was good and super fresh, but pretty basic.

For our entrees mom ordered the lobster pot pie, and I got the prime rib. We also switched over to wine for our entrees. Mom ordered a pinot grigio and I got a tempranillo.

Soon our entrees arrived! The lobster pot pie came out with quite the presentation! They cut off the top crust from the pot, put that on a plate, then pour the filling on top of it.

The food was good, but definitely not my favorite on property. The lobster pot pie could have used a bit more seasoning, and while the prime rib was good, the popover it came with was super dry.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal, and we would eat here again, but it’s not one of the restaurants we’re rushing back to next trip. We’ll add it to the rotation, but unlike places like Flying Fish or Tiffins it’s not an every trip kind of place.

Next up: Moving Home!

Aw, bummer. Was hoping Bourbon Steak would be a home run. Glad to hear it was good enough to repeat. That lobster pot pie has quite the presentation. And I LOVE the idea of french fries instead of bread service ... GENIUS! I've run into the convention/large & loud table a couple times at Swan and Dolphin. Makes sense as it's a convention resort but it is frustrating - sounds like main dining room is definitely the way to go here.

Yeah, I wonder if we just didn't order the right things, like the food was good but just not anything really special (other than those scallops, those were amazing!). We also loved the fries to start, what a fun way to change things up, and having the three flavors and three dipping sauces was also really cool.

I do wish we had been in the main dining room, I feel like having to yell all dinner just to hear each other definitely took points away from our enjoyment of the place. We'll definitely try it again one of these trips though!

Day 2, Part 1: Moving Home!

We slept in a bit this morning, not getting up until around 7:30. Actually, we slept in most days this trip, it was an odd one for us! And yes, I get 7:30 is still early, but compared to work and our typical Disney trips, sleeping until 7:30 was super late! ::yes::

We spent some time this morning repacking our bags since we were moving over to our next resort for the rest of the trip, the YC! We also enjoyed some breakfast and of course some coffee. I spent some time taking pictures around the room and of our view as well since I hadn’t with the chaos in arriving the night before.

(gotta get a picture of the construction)

I LOVE this picture, I wish they sold a smaller version of this, I would 100% buy it!

Around 9 we headed out of the room and I did the mobile check-out since we learned the hard way if you don’t check out of the first resort it can create issues getting into the room at your next resort.

We then dragged our bags to the elevators to move everything over to the YC! I noticed on the way the carpet in the halls at the BC had all these duck footprints! How cute!

PXL_20250921_131145457.jpg

It was a quick walk over to the YC, and soon we were at the front desk getting checked in by this amazing CM whose name I totally forgot and failed to write down. Oops!

Anyways, we chatted with him for a while and discussed some of the good food to try at F&W.

Eventually we got all checked in, but our room wasn’t ready unsurprisingly. I did ask if we got our request, which was to be in a room facing Epcot, an upper floor, and away from the construction (we’re very needy obviously :rotfl:). He couldn’t tell us the room number yet, but he did look it up on a map and showed us the area it would be in, and sure enough, we got our request! YAY!!!!! I’ve found it’s been about 50/50 if we get our request, we know it’s not guaranteed, so when we do get it we’re very appreciative and of course very happy!

Oh, and I just have to note this rude woman checking in next to us because, ugh, just don’t be this woman. So she had booked the trip in three different segments, but all at the YC, so wanted to combine the reservation so she could stay in the same room the whole trip. That’s obviously not the rude part, plenty of people do this, but when the CM was helping her, she tells her that not only can she combine the reservations so she doesn’t need to switch rooms, she also was able to upgrade the woman to a water view room for free! You would think the woman checking in would be grateful right? Nope, she just glowered at the CM and rudely says “Good.” Like eewwwwww! Who raised you!??! I feel so bad for the CM just trying to throw in some pixie dust, if I were her, I’d switch the rude woman back to a resort view and find the worst one in the hotel to give her (which is why I don’t work in customer service anymore :rotfl2:).

Once we wrapped up with the check-in, we brought our bags over to bell services to store so we could head over to Epcot to get our Food and Wine adventure started!

On the way over to Epcot we took a bunch of pictures!

It was absolutely beautiful this morning, like in the low 70s, low humidity, perfect blue sky, we got very lucky!

Next up: Finally, the First Park of the Trip!

I wish more resorts would have the kiosks where you can order the art like the Riviera does. I think maybe the new Poly tower does? So hopefully they'll roll that out more broadly. How do you typically register your room requests? Do you do it when booking or use another method(s)? The other woman checking in sounds like a piece of work. If I were the CM I'd have said, "oopsie, the water view upgrade isn't available." I was at guest services at MK recently prior to the start of a MNSSHP and the guy next to me was just berating the CM and was incredulous that the party could have been sold out. He was shouting, you mean to tell me everyone booked their tickets in advance??? I'm laughing (on the inside) and thinking... YUP. Zero excuse for being rude to cast members but I do feel bad for people who visit with no research or planning and somehow genuinely didn't know it was required.

The new BC carpeting looks really nice. :)
