Whoa, you got the discount AND the developer points? What are the terms on the dev points? That's the first I've heard of that.

A march use year means that they got the points from march 2007. They would have gotten 520 developer points. I would have taken that option and rented them, it would net around 5000 dollars making the effective cost of the contract 84 per point, and, if the current year points were rented, then the effective cost would be 74 per point. Great deal if you ask me!

Gotcha, thanks. I recently bought at AKV with the $8/pt credit (august UY), and until settlement occurs, I'm keeping an eye on any new deals I could beg, borrow, or steal for. :lmao:

I got the same deal yesterday as well!! Looks like another trip this year since we have our points, or at least once everything is final!!:thumbsup2

A little OT here, but I do have a question about taking the developer points vs the discount per point. If you take the developer points, do you have to pay the maintenance fee on those points?

No MF on developer points. You cannot bank or transfer developer points. Developer points must be used in 7 mos. from purchase date, any unused are forfeited. You CAN replace existing reservations that are within 7 mos. with developer points without having to cancel and rebook. You can also rent unused developer points with travel completed in the 7 mos. window.

Thanks!!!! That is a great deal. I'd rent the develop points and possibly even my first year's points, too. I realize I'm asking you to speculate, but do you thnk I'd have any problem renting that many points (480) in the 7 month window?

Izzy, I got the double points on a 160 point contract and rented all 320 points in one day. You will get lots and lots of inquiries that does take some organization to keep track of, but ultimately the points seem to go buy fast. I had to say no to at least 370 points worth of requests as they came so fast and I could only go on a first come first serve basis. Good Luck

Where is it you can post to rent out your developer points? (Sorry if I'm not supposed to be asking, but if you have to just PM me.) Thanks!!

The DIS Rent/Trade Board is a great place to start. There are other sites out there as well that have decent DVC trafffic on them that you can post. Its just a rental posting, the fact they are developer points doesn't really have much of an effect, except you won't get the reservation number when you make the initial call. Its a manual process and the reservation number is normally available several business days after you call and then the letter is still sent out to you 7 to 10 days after that. Just let your renter know that and there shouldn't be a problem. Good Luck

What # do you call to talk to a/your salesman? I own at SSR but want to buy at AKV.

TIA,

Just went on a tour this past weekend and my guide was pressuring us big time that day to commit. So much for the posts that said no pressure. He said that Saratoga is the best deal going and not AK. Use year is Feb for SS currently so you get those back points plus dues less. Don't kid yourself AK is out of the way and I have been the victim of waiting for buses a long time in both high and low seasons. SS will be easier to get add ons in the future and getting a reservation because it is so large. And close to some shopping and life unlike AK.
By the way he said they are not having villas at the Contemporary and that he hears so many false rumors etc...but in the next breath he said disney is looking to expand to a lot of real nice places like hawaii and others so it is only going to get better. And no i did not buy this weekend. I have some other questions to ask. Great resales on SS now too. Incentives can change in any month BTW from Disney so beware. But it could be better too.
