Sorry if some of these are random but I'm just so excited!

- I know you can hire Mickey, and some of the Fab 5... but can you get other entertainment? We are really interested in "Lady Renata" form the Haunted mansion (she entertains guests on the lawn during MNSSHP) I think that it would be awesome to have her there during the reception to mingle and provide entertainment...
- Can you have a dessert party at MNSSHP?
- Do they do receptions at Tower Of Terror on the Patio?
- Do minimums change year to year?
- Any suggestions for a ceremony location that could fit with our "Victorian Halloween" theme?

I think that's all for now! thanks so much in advance! :lovestruc

I don't really have a lot of responses to your questions but keep in mind that your date is 4 years away. A LOT can change in those 4 years... so even if they allowed that character now, they may not then and vice versa.... same thing goes with all your other questions that you have. I know my response is less than helpful to you now, but all i can really say is contact a disney wedding planner and they may be able to help you out to give you some sort of idea.

and for a "victorian halloween" theme... you'd be surprised with what they can do to a place for decorations to make it how you want it. For instance, simple uplighting can really change the mood of the room... same with simply dimming the lights which is free :-)

Every year, they prices do go up. But once again, I would call a planner and run your questions past them :-) Good luck! And congrats on setting a date!

congrats and welcome!

the answers to many of your questions is "yes"! yes, you can hire characters (the more obscure, the more challenging i imagine, but as they say "money talks"...), yes, you can have in park receptions (TOT area is a choice), yes, minimums/prices/etc.. do change from year to year!

you can have a dessert party - not sure how MNSSHP affects that - many of the MK dessert parties are actually fireworks watching parties from the GF (which is.... VICTORIAN themed!!!! hahahahaha:rotfl::rotfl:)

in any event, welcome, and i would HIGHLY recommend checking out the many many planning journals here - using wither the forum search feature and also just googling your ideas - you can find some really great ideas, pictures, etc...

also, get yourself - and it's never too early! - a copy of the "bible" - that is passporter's guide to DFTW - if you buy the electronic version you are going to get free updates as info changes - very helpful for your situation!

happy planning! and pinning?:thumbsup2

We are really interested in "Lady Renata" form the Haunted mansion (she entertains guests on the lawn during MNSSHP) I think that it would be awesome to have her there during the reception to mingle and provide entertainment...Even if they won't let you have that particular character, you can work with them to create a character of your own in the vein of that character.
- Can you have a dessert party at MNSSHP? At as in in the Magic Kingdom? Not currently. There aren't any DP locations (or reception locations for that matter) in the magic kingdom. You can have a dessert party at the Grand Floridian and try to schedule it for a MNSSHP night.
- Do they do receptions at Tower Of Terror on the Patio? There's a courtyard in front of the ride where you can have the reception. There's also a terrace but the capacity is really small. The most important thing to note is that your reception can't start until 2 hours after park closing.
- Do minimums change year to year?Usually...I'd expec them to change a few times before your wedding.
- Any suggestions for a ceremony location that could fit with our "Victorian Halloween" theme? For Victorian, anywhere a the Grand Floridian. I think the Whitehall Room and Patio could be a good "blank canvas" and with enough decor could definitely be Haunted Mansion -esque.

Answers above in red.

We are thinking the same time range. Carrie's book is pretty awesome for a date 2 1/2-3 1/2 years out. If you get the e-book you get free update downloads (because it will update). Currently the minimum is 15k, so we are going under the idea that the minimum will be 20k.

Definitely also listen to her podcast. It's pretty cool :).

Thanks for all the replies and the warm welcome!! I will definitely pick up the Passporter's guide, and I need to catch up on her podcast :thumbsup2

And thanks for the suggestions of the GF, but its not exactly what I'm looking for... I am looking for more Gothic Victorian... not late Victorian (which is what GF is) Sorry I wasn't more clear before.

for MNSSHP, if we had a dessert party somewhere... would they pipe in the Hallowishes music? or no? I haven't seen confirmation on the boards one way or the other...

Sambycat, Pinning=pinterest=online idea board. Its a really great way to collect all your ideas from all over the web without having to remember to bookmark stuff. you just go to your pinterest board and all your ideas ar right there...in pictures. I shared mine with my MOH, since she is 9+hours from me. Feel free to click the link in my signature and check out my board with all my ideas(also, I am a fan of your podcast, so when you replied, I was like "omg someone famous replied to me!")

Yup you can have the Wishes (or Hallowishes if that's the case) piped in to the GF DP locations for an additional fee. I won't lie, it's a pretty hefty one! I think it starts around $500 and if you have a lot of guests it can be higher. But if having the music is important then it's worth it.

Oh Lordy - that made me laugh and I needed one this morning!!! I did click on your signature yesterday but I have to join up to make a comment there!! Haha! I was going to say yes you can get the HM pics and currently the MK park sessions start ~$1100. So basically your limiting factor would only be your budget!

When you get down to the nitty gritty and can start actually booking stuff, you do need to consider transportation costs/issues which will figure into budget and timing. Because ending up a the GF area for a dessert party might make other aspects of decor/budget give you more to do thi gs with if u aren't moving thi gs all over gods green earth. I love the port orlreans resorts and this could make for interesting photo ops but not sure about actual event locations. Same with boardwLk area.

Also, I would highly recommend cultivate g a relationship with your friend lady renata! Although she isn't on the character list per se, CMs can make calls or assist in working with you. That's how we got Yeeha Bob to play at our wedding!

Agreed, that's how we got bob to be at our welcome party, ceremony and reception! Can you tell we love him?!? :cheer2:

Congratulations on setting your date!

Like PP have said a LOT can change in 4 years.

As far as I'm aware, there are only limited characters you can have, they run at around $1000 for half hour each.

You can hire the patio at TOT but I don't know what the venue cost is. We have hired the small patio at Fantasmic! and our venue rental fee is $250 + tax (our VR is in February 2012)

Yes, minimums do change year on year.

Just wanted to say congrats! I'll be getting married in 2014 or 2015 and the wait is killing me! Doesnt mean you cant get ideas and start planning though! I will follow your pin board! :goodvibes

I followed you back. :)

New Question: what is the deal with welcome bags? Should I have them for guests? Are they worth it? Anyone have any pictures on what goes in one?

TIA!
