My 17-year-old son just left to go to the funeral of a team member's dad. The dad was rushed to the hospital last week and it was discovered he had blood clots in his right leg that went to his lungs and subsequently to his heart. His heart stopped the next day and the medical team was able to bring him back, but he did not recover and died the day after.

He was an organ donor and his donations will help about 50 people, a few in our area. However, they ran their own business and he did not have health insurance, so I can't imagine the extent of the bills his wife will have to deal with, for the hospital--er and icu exclusively and the funeral, let alone no income for 2 weeks (or more as I am not sure if she can run the business on her own). I am not sure if he had life insurance, but it doesn't sound like it.

My heart aches for the family for the loss of their father and also of what they will have to deal with in the future and how dramatically their life will change.

Please send good thoughts and prayers for this family!

(I do have to say I am pleased with the way my son is turining into such a nice, young man. He dressed appropriately, googled his directions, asked about proper things to say at visitation. I asked if he wanted me to go along and he said no, he could handle it. Where did my little guy go?)

That´s so sad! Your son must be a wonderful young man and I´m sure his friends family appreciated him coming to the funeral.

Your son sounds like a really good kid.

I'm so sorry for his teammate's loss. It sounds like a really sad situation.

He is becoming the man that YOU raised him to be (and a great one from what you posted) might I add. I will lift the family up in prayers.

Your son is a wonderful young man and I'm sure the family appreciates his thoughtfulness. Said a prayer for them.
