I know, right? We're cruising out of FLL in October and SW is usually our go-to but we just can't get there on SW for a reasonable fare. Plus they offer very few non-stops from Denver to FLL and we do not want to waste vacation time changing planes when we don't have to. I knew that DIA-FLL was not cheap because my son is going to Sea Base with Boy Scouts in June. I was really surprised with how much the SW fare was; luckily we had points to spend so we booked him to match the troop's itinerary but did not have to pay them for the SW group airfare! For the October trip we ended up going with American, non-stop to Miami for $144 each way. We were going to fly in early and rent a car anyway, so no biggie with being 30 minutes south. We'll have to pay baggage fees, but we still come out way ahead on both money and time. I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but yes, SW fares seem to be creeping up and up!
Agreed! It's unfortunate because I LOVE SW! I'm willing to pay a little more generally for them, but in this case I don't think I can justify it. I think it would be a little cheaper if my dates were more flexible, but obviously with cruising the dates are pretty set!
