Just saw UP for the first time

And I don't think I've cried that much at a cartoon in my entire life. Even more than the Lion King! I remember reading that it had some pretty sad parts, but I cried even after the movie was over. :sad1: I know there are some films I can't watch anymore because of how horrible I feel, either that or I have to fast forward through the depressing parts.
Did anyone else feel this sad after watching UP?

Yes! Especially after the montage at the beginning. I was a mess!

yup...esp. after my miscarriage last year...thankfully a friend prepared me ahead of time. but i still got sniffly!

we refer to dd as russel now. the 2nd week of our trip last month was im tired my knee hurts....even now we hear im tired my knee/foot/ankle/arm/belly and we go yes russel!

dd's also been known to shout out squirrel in a restaurant a timeor two.

Honestly I was much more emotional at the end of the movie when he discovered what he didn't realize for so long, than I was at the beginning.

Yes, it has sad moments, but to me it was a positive movie in the end and about enjoying what life gives you, especially love.

I teared up at a few parts during Up too. I kind of figured I would after I heard it was sad. At the end though it wasn't sad tears it was happy tears. :) Great movie. :thumbsup2 OK I'm about to cry at the part where Carl finds the scrapbook with the message from Ellie...very touching.

It's on Starz movie channel on cable even as I type (they're in the middle of the Married Life montage). I love love love this movie - and yep, there are teary parts (Carl finally looking through the Adventure Book still gets me), but I still think it's overall so positive, and I love all the characters (yeah, even Muntz). My favorite line in the movie is still... well, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it's Dug's 'hiding under the porch' line - I just want to hug him.

DW and I watched up for the first time on Christmas Eve afternoon last year on bluray and cried like babies through most of the whole thing. We even had to pause it after the opening montage and once again later in the movie. We loved the movie, though. We bought the bluray and have since been able to watch it again with minimal tearing up, but it helps that we also skip the opening sequence and just start with him in the big city. Dug is hilarious. We love Dug. The rest of the movie is great and beautiful and is a great story, but it still gets us pretty good. But that's the point, so good for Pixar that we can still get teary from an animated movie after multiple viewings.

Yep I bawled like a baby while watchin UP. It was in the theaters right after I had my miscarriage and we were going to take DD to see it, but a friend warned me and I decided not to see it in the theater. It was right after it came out on DVD that I did watch it and it was definitely a tearjerker for me! But it was a beautiful story.

I watched part of it again yesterday and cried...again! I really do think it is a wonderful story and just as PPs have mentioned, how awesome an animated film can make us feel so many emotions!
Overall, I think the movie did more than just make me sad, it made me eternally grateful for the things I have! :lovestruc :cloud9:

I LOVED Up! I cried through the entire movie at the theatre. My husband purchased it on DVD the day it came out, but we haven't watched it. I have to wait until after we have the baby.

I guess I'm the only one that hated this movie! I also hated Dumbo, so maybe I don't like depressing Disney movies.
