Scheduled to spend a week at the world from 8/13 to 8/20 and I just heard that they are expecting that Hurricane season will be much like it was last year. Now I'm afraid that we'll hit a hurricane when we are there. Does anyone know if its too late to purchase travel insurance?

Aaron, hurricanes are impossible to predict. Just because the Nat'l Weather Service has predicted a season as busy as last year doesn't mean that every hurricane will plow through Central Florida. We're talking hundreds of thousands of square miles: the coastline along the Atlanic Ocean, the Gulf coast, and Pacific Ocean, not to mention the Caribbean.

I live in Miami, so I know something about hurricanes. You can't worry about what MIGHT happen. If you have a vacation scheduled that week, just wach the weather reports as the date approaches. If there is indeed a hurricane predicted to hit Central Florida (again, the risk is small), simply cancel your reservation with enough time.

have fun!

I don't mean to sound flip about this, but you can't worry about it now. Do you worry about all four of your tires flying off when you drive down the highway? Of course not!

Last year we went for four glorious days - smack in between two hurricanes! Our towncar driver took a detour to show us the damage that was done to his neighborhood, and I was really glad we were there spending money at WDW to keep the folks working!

You can decide not to go even the day before! Call WDW and say you want to move your vacation to another date (not cancel!).

I'll be coming in right behind you (8/21 - 8/29), so I'm talking myself into this as much as you! LOL!

We are taking our first August trip this year (19th - 28th) and I am not even thinking about hurricanes! I think the heat will get us first. :)

You can't worry about it every moment just like those of us who live here in Florida can't worry about it. They may predict an active hurricane season but that doesn't mean that they'll hit land, let alone Florida.

It's not too late to have travel insurance and if you have a package or something that you can't afford to lose if a hurricane does come, I would take it out.

We are planning a trip in august for 14th floor Concierge...and if a hurricane comes, I guess I'll have to watch the insanity from the 14th floor lounge with a drink in my hand. :cool1:
