Just saved myself $18 a year!!

It pays to examine all of your bills closely.
I had a $1.50 charge on my phone bill for an international flat rate plan. I just called to find out what it was and did I need it and the answer was NO.
I do not make international calls at all and if I needed to the verizon person told me to call and add this service back on.

So, I will be saving $18 a year from now on!! Not a lot, but it's still my money

Only on the budget board do we get excited (or even notice) $18 a year. So what are you going to do with your nickle every few days ?

I learned that lesson yesterday. For some reason I randomly decided to look closely at the taxes on my cell phone bill. I discovered I've been paying taxes for 2 different counties ever since I moved over a year ago! I called and had them correct it, so I'll be saving almost $5 a month. I just can't think about all the money I've lost from not noticing this for a whole year. They could only go back 90 days to credit me for the error. Doh.

This goes to show you (for those who still have traditional landlines with AT&T/Verizon/Qwest and the small telcos) to scrutinize your phone bills for "fees" just to have a long distance provider (quite frankly, in this age of cell phones and flat rate monthly calling, who pays by the minute, anymore?).

Unfortunately, the telco taxes are something we, as consumers have little control over.

Because of this post I looked closely at my phone bill (landline) and I have take 12.95 per month off of my bill!
