We landed at LAX at 11 AM on 8/13. Picked up our rental car, checked into our 1 BR at GCV and were in the park at 1 PM. Our first impression - we were a little disappointed. This could have been from being up from 3 AM, but as time wore on - we grew to love DL.
We loved how Main Street is keeping it's charm, whereas WDW is somehow losing theirs?? I loved the horse drawn carriages etc that still operate up and down Main St.
We loved how civilized everyone was at parade time. We loved how there was no cutting in line. I was surprised how they let people sit down in front of the castle several hours before the fireworks. We didn't see Fantasmic because it was running about 20 minutes late and I was afraid I would miss the fireworks - but that ended up being late too. But no matter the fireworks were awesome. WOC - we were able to get fast passes - I thought the area we stood was good - and once again we were so happy to see how great everyone was, not pushing or shoving.
The Grand Californian was beautiful. Our room was very nice, we called for a broken coffee maker and it was replaced in under 5 minutes.
Our memorable meals were - Steakhouse 55, Carthay Circle, Blue Bayou.
We thought this was going to be a once in a lifetime trip - but I see more on the horizon. Thanks for all your advice.
