Just returned!

Were in Orlando/Disney from May 13-22. Stayed at the Windsor Hills in a wonderful condo. The first week, the parks were very quiet. On Tues May 15th went to MK and walked on all the rides - all day!! The water parks were pretty quiet too. This week was a bit busier.

Drove home via I-95 and drove through Washington, DC. It was amazing!

Oh yeah, the love bugs were everywhere at the Disney parks. Still have some visible bites.

Yikes, I thought those type of bugs did not bite.

How was the smoke from the FL fires in the Orlando area?

We were there from the 18 to 22nd and didn't have too much trouble with the love bugs - only place we found them to be bad was at Epcot on sunday.

Didn't notice any smoke smell from the fires either.

Well on our way down on Sat May 12th, we stopped in South Carolina for the night. We met a very negative American man at breakfast who tried to scare us and told us not to go to Florida as ALL of the interstates were closed. He said that visitors were not encouraged in Florida!!! Yeah right!!! He even went as far to give us other suggestions for our vacation ....

We are the type never to believe anyone unless there is ample proof so we continued on our way. We were travelling I-26 to I-95 and they were not closed. Apparently I-75, I-10 was closed for a very short time. We did see smoke coming from a forest fire along the I-95 in Georgia but it did not affect the road.

But we did witness an accident on I-26 (unrelated to the fire). You know the kind when everyone comes to a dead stop for no reason?? A car, 3 cars behind us flipped on it's side. We were in front so were not delayed but were very disturbed about it all. Then on the I-95 near Sandford, we experienced a terrible rain and hail storm for about 20 minutes!! Welcome to Florida and Happy Mother's Day to me!!

The rest of the trip went very smoothly. We did not smell or see any smoke near Disney. They were predicting rain everyday this week so not sure if that helped.
