Just returned - the sky is not falling!

If I were a Disney executive reading this post about you getting a better Disney experience by staying offsite, you would have gotten my attention immediately.

I'd love to know just how many "Disney executives" read these forums. Because I totally agree with you! They would get a very clear view of just how unahppy most everyone is. :sad2:

Lol - we were lucky in that I booked the resort and tickets separately, not as a package, so we were able to cancel. No one asked us why, although I would have told them.

I assume, however, that Disney has plans to make FP+ work well enough for onsite guests that it will be a true perk over offsite. It just isn't one right now, imo.

I don't know how many Disney executives read the forum, but Pete said on the podcast a few weeks back that they do get a huge cluster of hits from Disney corporate in Anaheim and Orlando.

Ugh, this almost has me wishing we weren't staying onsite this trip... Offsite = affordable rates, no tiers, classic FP access, riding headliners multiple times. Onsite = Disney prices, MB only, choosing between headliners, no FP- access.

I just have to keep reminding myself that it is just me and my 5yo, and she doesn't care about most of the headliners. If my big kids were coming I'd be changing resorts in a heartbeat.

You know what? With a little one, I think FP+ would be nice. She won't want the headliners, and it's nice to be able to plan ahead with the little ones. I think it will make it more relaxing for you. It just wasn't going to work for us but I think for small kids especially, there's some nice benefits. We have a bigger group and wanted the additional space of offsite as well. You will be perfect onsite with just you and DD. Princess City!!

We have only used fast pass a few times. We go every other year usually during the summer months. We don't get up at rope drop and we are able to ride all the headliners while we r there. I think fastpass plus will b nice but I still like being able to wait in the standby lines. This has been where my family have bonded and met some really cool people from across the world. I think everyone just needs to take a deep breath an remember u r on vacation and roll with the punches just like Walt intended.

That's what I keep reminding myself. I'm usually pretty ride-commando, mostly because that's the best way to keep everyone happy (three kids - 15, 12, 5), and I think the biggest challenge of this trip is going to be slowing down to just-5yo pace! Our FP+ selections are perfect for her - tiers aren't much of a factor with a child too small for Rock N Roller Coaster and who probably isn't ready for/interested in Test Track, and it is nice having Toy Story Mania scheduled for the evening so we can do that and see the Osbourne lights without spending a whole day there.

But still, I get the promo e-mails from Wyndham and see that the Grand at Bonnet Creek is cheaper than All-Star Music and I can't help thinking twice...

So, if Disney actually believes this is the greatest new thing in the world why are the rolling it out to the cheap seats first? Kind of makes me wonder if even they're buying how great this is going to be at this point.

You were using FP-, and you went for rope drop, and said you got to ride stuff. While that's awesome for you, it has no relation to the people staying onsite who are going to be locked into FP+, particularly at all the values but Art Now.

Couldn't agree with you more Nicky, this really ought to be felt like a slap in the face to the people at the values. Its not a matter of the number of people at values either, its just as easy to switch modes, or a couple deluxes etc over to MM+ and FP+ only, in order to get the same number of people on the system.

Disney has clearly made the decision that they pay less, spend less, and so are of less worth, and are less risky therefore to test on. I mean, that makes sense from a corporate perspective, but from a Disney perspective, or a guest perspective, mmmm not so much.

It's also possible that the mods will go all FP+ next week, and the Deluxes right after that, in which case this is not a big deal.

I doubt they read them much. Or, if they do, they don't care.Think of how many things have changed at WDW. Often, there have been posts here lamenting the changes...the changes happened anyway.

This pace is a discussion board- not a corporate think tank.

Maybe for comedic purposes? I can see it now...

"Hey, Bob! The DiSers are STILL mad about FP+!!! Let's really stir things up and knock the FP choices to one a day, and watch them go nuts!" ;)

I agree! I've been trying to remain positive about our upcoming January trip, but I just learned that KTTW cards will not be available to us (ASMO). I'd been planning to skip FP+ and simply take our chances with FP-... now I'm forced into it and NOT looking forward to it!

Is RD an option for you?

No one has ever questioned that its awesome to do RD with FP- ... in fact everyone knows this. Just really not sure what point you were trying to make here ???

The OP's experience has value to me. Many threads have been about FP- availability being gone in 30 minutes so this was the point the OP was trying to make.

We are offsiters and have been contemplating over the past few weeks about completely skipping Disney on our trip in March for Universal. We go often and I don't want to replace our wonderful memories with ones of long lines and FP's that are gone in 30 minutes. We do get to the parks at rope drop but it sounds like even doing that the FP's are gone quickly. Maybe this isn't as big of a concern if you follow the best park days advice as the OP didn't experience this.

Even so, our trip is not until March and FP- may be gone by then. If this is the case, we will be moving our trip from Disney to Universal.

Thanks for posting OP!!!
