We just returned from a 5 day stay at BWV in a two-bedroom (room 3003 and 3005). This room has a boardwalk view (awesome), but is at the end of the hallway near the Attic.

All the CMs that we had dealing with were great. Even good the "Welcome Home" at the front desk.

While there wasn't anything majorly wrong with the room, it did seem like there was a lot of wear and tear.

It also didn't seem like the room had been cleaned well. The doors to the rooms looked "dirty" with fingerprints, the bathroom really need a good scrubing, and the doors to the balconey were very loose fitting (you could really feel the breeze).

My wife really wasn't pleased by the condition of the room, so much so that she wants to stay somewhere else next time.

Has anyone else noticed this in the rooms?

When was the last time the rooms at the BWV got a "refurb"?

I would not be pleased with a room that was not up to certain cleanliness standards. Who did you call to help make things right? Housekeeping? Engineering?

I think it was 2001 - they do one every 5 years.

BWV preferred view is probably (after Standard) their most requested view - so more people are using these rooms.

One more thing - after the maids clean the room - sometimes the last guest come by and mess up some things - they don't tell the front desk or housekeeping that they did this.

Until the front desk can change the keys after the maids clean it - you will have this problem. they don't change the keys until the next guest checks in -

Cleanliness is THE most important thing in a hotel room to me. Everything else is secondary.

I noticed that the housekeeping budget at BWV was down almost 3 cents a point for 2005. I hope they aren't skimping there.

We did notice some minor things in our BWV room a couple weeks ago. The coffee pot had soap stains down the side (a piece of the dishwasher power did not disolve and was stuck on the top), surely that was noticeable. I wiped off some fingerprints. Nothing major to ask for housekeeping to come but it did irk me a little that we had to wait until 4:00 for our room and they missed things. It was a Saturday afternoon, I don't know if they were short staffed. There were lots of carts in the hall on Friday morning, a popular checkout day. We didn't leave until almost 11:00, at least they did not knock on the door (had sign out) or do any "mysterious phone hangups". I did notice a supervisor checking rooms one afternoon.

Below is part of our trip report I posted on the community board.

We just returned from an 11 night stay split between the BWV and BCV. From Dec. 5-10 we had a BW GV, room 5035 to be exact. Our favorite place in the world is the BWV and have stayed there many times and our rooms have always been in great shape. This is the first time we have had issues with our room, and a GV no less. It was one of the 2 story villas, and don't get me wrong we still had a great time the room condition was somewhat dissapointing. We had a party of 8 but one couple opted for the fold out couch. We immediately went to the closet to make sure there were pillows and blankets but couldn't find them so we pulled out the couch to look. (Come to find out they are stored in the drawer of the armoire as there is no hall closet.) Underneath the couch was a lot of dust, lots crumbs and an empty water bottle. I called housekeeping and they came up with the pillows and blankets and I asked them to clean under the couch. She proceeded to tell me that she really isn't from housekeeping and she just had surgery but she would try. She definetely needed some pixie dust. Anyway she left and I turned on the light above the dining room table and there was a large perfectly shaped cobweb on the chandelier. Then we went to put groceries away and the bottom door shelf on the fridge was missing the rail around it, so we couldn't put anything on the bottom shelf. Then we went into the master bedroom and there were two tears in the wall and the drywall was exposed a couple of inches in both cases. Also beware that the 2 story villas don't have a balcony off the master BR. We have been members for almost 5 years and this was our first GV, and I have to say I was not as excited as I thought I might be. It certainly didn't dampen our trip, however.

Be sure to report the problems.

That way the management can address them before the next guests arrive.

We just returned from BW after a stay in a one bedroom (us) and a studio (my daughter & family). Our standard view 1BR was in perfect condition -- everything fresh, clean and new looking -- but the toilet stopped flushing soon after we arrived. A call to maintenance got it fixed while we went to lunch. All else was just right. The studio with preferred view (feature pool to boardwalk) was very clean and in good condition but the TV cabinet had seen better days.

We were very pleased that they got our rooms very close together, despite two different arrival days and different views. Everything else about the visit -- service, facilities, etc -- was ideal and we were delighted with our first visit to our BW home. We did report the armoire problem, so I hope it will be addressed. I travel a LOT, all around the US and in Europe, staying in three-five star hotels, and I have to say that the Disney resorts are comparable, both in positives and occasional negatives. Don't settle for bad service (call a supervisor, if necessary) and we'll all have better experiences!

I share your concern, but can think of a some reasons why this expense might be expected to be lower in the upcoming year. The main one is No More Construction: the units they put in where the old sales center was should be about ready now (apparently there are some new dedicated 2BRs among them). Also, they are finishing up with the destruction of the aweful little building. Both of these completions should reduce the amount of cleaning necessary, just getting the construction filth off of everything. Having lived thru a home renovation in the past year, I am acutely aware of how dirty everything gets when anything like this is going on in the building; everything just takes twice as long to clean.

Whe we checked in over Veterans' Day things were immaculate. Sure we had some engineering problems (which were called in and fixed immediately), and initially we hated the location (H/C room on first floor looking at the back of Leaping Horse Libations), but the room itself was in great shape. Once everything was working well, and we got used to (and began to like) the location, we had a wonderful time. I sure would have been peeved if we'd had a dirty room on top of the other problems.

We just spent 7 nights there in November on the third floor facing the other way (the bus stop) and our room was in perfect condition. I told my wife I couldn't believe how good of condition the room was in. It looked brand new!!!

We were in a Boardwalk view 2 bedroom from 11/28 - 12/4 (Rooms 4011 & 4013). I didn't see any thing major wrong with the room, either, but it did indeed, seem to have a lot more "wear and tear" than any of the other rooms we've had in previous stays (all standard views).

This was our first BW view room and while it did have a wonderful view, I found I preferred our standard view rooms. I couldn't really put my finger on anything specific (to report), but the BW view room did seem darker and not as nice as the standard view rooms. Those standard view rooms really are a bargain - I'm quite sure we'll be staying in them for the foreseeable future.

Best wishes -

We were just there Dec 1-8 and only had a few engineering issues that were taken care of while we were there. And the door to the deck didn't close well, I reported it as we left. That doesn't bother me at all, some guest prior to me just didn't report it. Stuff happens and housekeeping can't possibly see all of it. I call to get it fixed to leave the unit better for the next guest. I wish every guest would do that.

As for cleanliness - I have to believe that not everyone is perfect and I am accepting of it. I am not perfect in my housecleaning - sometimes I forget to dust a table, or wipe fingerprints off of doors. Unless there are obvious oversights to things that should be done, then I'm not picky. I know this really bugs some people - that they want everything perfect, but it's just not something that bothers me.

And while we were there, housekeeping did a room inspection. We went out for dinner and when we returned, all of the lights were on in all three rooms. I called and asked why and was told that they do routine and random inspections (we had T&T that day).

We stayed in room 1040 for 5 days last week and it was pretty clean. I did see a few items of normal wear and tear such as water spots on the table, however, I did see pretty bad water damage to the wood trim around the tub. The paint had peeled off parts of the wood and there were black stains of mold around the affected areas. I almost called, but I did not want to smell paint for the next couple of days and we were pretty tired from a full day at the parks. Nothing a scraper, some Kilz paint, a fresh coat of paint and chaulking can't fix in a day. I was a little surprised to see it tho. Great access to the pool from the porch (too bad it was freezing) and no signs of construction even tho the sales center used to be located down the hall.

You know...every five years is a mighty long time especially with heavy use. My other ts does it every three. Not sure what they do every three...I know its not a complete overhaul.

Last month i posted a trip report for BWV and had some issues. The porcellin was scraped of the bottom of the toilet so it always looked dirty, the doors and jams were scraped up, and some other areas looked worn. And a few whiskers and a washcloth left. This was a 1 bedroom

Funny because my parents had a studio at BCV and this was the one i was worried about, but it was perfect. I wonder if the 1bedroom units take that much more use and abuse being full most of the time, and/or the rooms and resorts go in cycles.

We just returned from Dec. 1- 8th. We had some minor issues like 2 bars of soap in a 1 bedroom for 3 sinks and a shower. No extra toilet paper. We called to house keeping and of course they brought it up right away.

The condition of room was great.

The real problem occured when my niece checked into a studio on the 2nd floor. It was infested with ants. Since they were our guests I called down to the front desk to ask that they be moved. The response was that the Boardwalk was full and they would send someone to spray. I said that was unacceptable and that they should be moved. Again the response was sorry but the Boardwalk was full and all they could do was spray. I said I would be down to the front desk and wanted to talk to a manager. Well I got down to the front desk and it is amazing how fast they can find a room.
Why would the front desk make me get upset and waste our valuable vacation time over something that they should have been gracious about and offer to move our guests?

They did move our guests, but as soon as we walked in to the new room there was a hole in the sheetrock behind the entry door about 2 inches in diameter. All I could do was apologize to our guests.

I can't believe that someone paying cash or points would find it acceptable to stay in an ant infested room sprayed with pesticides. It was too bad that our guests experienced this on their 1st hours at WDW.

Luckily the real magic of Disney came through in the next week and they bought into Saratoga Springs. They are now looking forward to their next trip home.

Happy Holidays to All
Nancy

The Board Walk Inn was nothing less than superb....try that next time instead! :cloud9:

Im going to the Boardwalk for the first time. I really hope its not dirty.

We just returned from a nice stay at the BWV. The room (1105) was clean and in great condition. I was also very pleased with the bus transportation. It was a major improvement over our previous BWV stay in August.
