I just returned from my first trip, and not my last, to Disneyland and California Adventure. I had a great time and loved both parks. Disneyland is great...although the size of the castle did take my breath away...California Adventure was just as good.

We stayed at the Grand Californian Hotel which was absolutely the best. It was amazing and definetly worth it. We had an amazing view and loved getting up in the morning and looking right out into the park. It doesnt get much better than that.

Well if any one has any questions - maybe I can be of some help. I know that I used these boards alot getting ready for my trip.

Thank you for your kind words about DCA, it get such a bad rap!

Glad you had a great trip! How about a quick trip report? We leave in 2 weeks and would love to know your highs and lows!!

I had tons of highs on the trip and not many lows...besides the biggest low of leaving.

I have to say that I loved California Adventure. I thought the park was great. The rides in Paradise Pier were great. My favorite was Maliboomer. In the Hollywood Backlot, Blast was great. I would definetly sugguest seeing that show. The park was a little less crowded than Disneyland, so maybe that is one of the reasons why I liked it so much. I really enjoyed seeing everything. We had a number of days to spend at both parks so we were able to see everything and even make it back to those rides and shows that we really enjoyed. We did see two parades at California Adventure. I believe one was called Eureka - California and the other was the Electrical Parade.

I also enjoyed Disneyland. The crowds at times were getting be a little crazy...but I didnt expect much less since it is the summer. I loved the exhibit Moments with Mr. Lincoln. It was one of my favorite attractions. We also had the opportunity to take one of the walking tours. We took the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. If you have a few hours free in your schedule I would highly recommend it. The tour showed you things all around Disneyland that you wouldnt notice on your own...or at least I never did. Little things that Walt put into the park when it was made that were special to him and people who made special contributions to the park. I found it really interesting, plus our guide had a great knowledge of Walt Disney and Disneyland.

The one low I had at Disneyland was lunch at Blue Bayou. I had heard so many good things about the resturant that before we left for our trip I had made reservations. We arrived for our reservations - which requested a water view - even willing to wait longer for one - and when we were seated it was probably the furthest seat from the water. I mentioned something to the hostess and she didnt seem to care. I said that I specifically asked for a water view and this isnt even close. Her response was basically this is all we can offer you - take it or leave it because there are other people I can give this table to. If I was not with my two sisters, I would have left but we ended up staying. I didnt really enjoy my meal and left highly disappointed.

All in all i loved my first trip to California and Disneyland. I am looking forward to going again.
