We arrived home last night after a week in the VWL. Even though it is our home resort, this was our first stay here.
We had an early morning flight 7:40 A.M. out of Philly on Sunday 12/04. We stayed at the Marriot located at the airport the night before. Since it was a combo of snow and rain in the morning, this was a great idea. No having to unload the car and try to park in that mess.
When we arrived at the gate we decided to tell our daughters (4 and 2) our big surprise. I got out the video tape and told them where we were going! My four year old said ok, and the two year old.....nothing! Not quite the reaction I expected, but they enjoyed the trip once we got there.
We got on the plane at 10 minutes after 7, then sat on the runway until close to 10. The line for the de-icing was very long. Sitting on a plane that long you start to notice other people and their habits. Which brings me to my first vent of this trip. If you are going to spend a couple of hours in a narrow tube with other people, can you at least take a shower first!!!
The lady sitting in front of my father-in-law had the worst case of bed head I have ever seen. The back of her hair was flat, an obvious sign that she slept on her back all night. Her hair also had that greasy look to it. YUCK. The girl who sat in front of my wife and took off her shoes and smelled up the whole plane. After a couple of loud comments she placed them back on.
Ok, I'm done with that....back to the trip.
Magical Express worked great and we arrived at the resort in about an hours time from arrival. Upon arrival I called wegoshop and let her know we were here. She arrived at the resort in about another hour later. Very impressed with her service.
We got to see all the Christmas stuff, MVMCP, Candle Light Processional, and the lights in MGM. We also did a couple of character meals.
The first night we did Cinderalla's feast at 1900 Park Fare. The were so excited, it was really fun to watch them. The last day of our trip we did the Princess breakfast at Norway. The girl playing Sleeping Beauty at Norway was the same who played Cinderalla on our first night. When she came to our table she said to our girls " Do I know you two, I think we met before" It was so cool that she remembered them after a whole week.
The MVMCP was outstanding. We cancelled our dinner at O'Hana's that night and decided to head over early and just grab something quick there. That was our best idea of the week. The lines to get in were so long later on. We also heard that the wait for the boat at the lodge was very long.
For the Candle light we did the package and ate in Germany. That place is still the family favorite. The show was amazing and should not be missed.
Over all we loved the lodge and this was our best family trip to WDW so far. The worst part of the week was when we arrived home and I had to shovel out the driveway in order to get the car in.
If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer.
