We had a great trip as usual but more so since they started using wristbands at the pool. There was always a seat to be had there now that only Poly guests and DVC are allowed in. As soon as we went to the pool a Rec CM came over asking to see our room cards which we happily obliged. We were given wrist bands to wear. We made sure to tell him and every other hotel staff how wonderful the bands were. The Rec CM told me that on July 4th over 350 people were asked to leave for not being Poly guests. Wow! He also said they were getting maybe 100 a day trying to come in but has finally slacked off to maybe 20 or so. The Rec CMs are really doing a great job and we were thankful to not have to be crammed into the pool. For once, I could see that the pool really is a nice size for the resort and not overcrowded as in the past.

Housekeeping was great, as were everything else at the Poly. We will miss it but taking a break for a couple of years to cruise instead. Hope everyone enjoys their future Poly trips!

DaisyD, thanks for letting us know. The overcrowded pool was the one and only complaint we ever had when we used to stay at the Poly. I'm so glad they are rectifying the situation.

Glad you had a great time.

This is great to hear especially since we are heading to the Poly in 5 days. :)

So happy you had a good time and that they are enforcing the pool policy with wristbands.

Every time after we stayed at the Poly and I would get a survey, I would always comment about the pool overcrowding issues and how I wish they would do something like they do at the BC/YC and Storm Along Bay.

Glad Disney is checking resort id's now. We also saw them checking id's at the Grand Floridian when we were there in May, mostly people with beach bags. Guess they figured they would be changing clothes somewhere etc?

So glad to hear that the wristband policy is working. We liked the Poly pool but it was way over crowded July 2010, sounds like they are doing a good job :cool1:

WE have not stayed at the Poly yet but want to soon and I am glad to see that its just hotel guests since they are paying to use the pool and it sucks when the pool is so over crowded. I like to go and check out the resorts so I can see where I would like to stay next time but I would never use their pool or other things without staying there. And wow 350 people that did not belong there! That is just crazy!!

I'm happy to hear that they are doing this now. I was going to book the poly for my next trip but after hearing about how crowded the volcano pool is I decided against it. (DD5 always wants to swim) I wonder if all the deluxe resorts are going to do this?

We were at the Poly in July and also did the wristband thing. I don't know if it was because of the wristbands or whether occupancy was down, but the pool was much more enjoyable this past trip than it has been in quite a while. No feeling of being overcrowded and we always got chairs. Made the stay very enjoyable.

Good news! :thumbsup2

They started wristbanding at the Volcano Pool over Spring Break '11. I had read that many non-guests had been removed, but I had no idea of the actual daily numbers. Thank you for posting that. This certainly explains why it was always so hard in the past to get a seat. Now, if they'd just move those cabanas and put the pool chairs back:scratchin

:scared1: No, no, no lol....I've booked one of those cabanas :thumbsup2 So I'd prefer they stay where they are for the time being :lmao:

I am glad that they are wrist-banding, it was starting to get really out of hand.

OK, they can move them after you're gone:thumbsup2

So happy to hear about the wristbands. The pool was so overcrowded we only went 1 day. We spent all our other pool time at the quite pool, but now that it's no longer super deep I think I'd prefer the feature pool. Sounds like I'll be able to really enjoy it now!

So glad to hear this! I've never actually stayed at the Poly, but I stayed at the Beach Club back before they issued wrist bands. I was part of a group of 20 somethings at the time, so we were fine. But, it would have been crazy trying to watch little kids.

We were there last July too and the crowds at the pool were RIDICULOUS, to the point it couldn't be enjoyed some afternoons.

So relieved they are finally addressing the problem!

Glad to hear they are finally addressing this issue. How big of a problem is this at other WDW resort pools? We'll be staying at the POR resort in January and wondering if this is being implemented throughout WDW. I hope so.
