Just returned from the Poly (long)

We were told last Dec that we couldn't use a cart at WL to bring our luggage to the room. Only the bellmen were allowed to use it. I guess they want a guaranteed tip. I wasn't budgeted for that and I don't like people touching my luggage especially since my DH had his CPAP machine with us for his sleep apnea with us so I was mad. I stood there and waited for someone to take it to my room and I followed them the whole time to make sure it got there. It took about 20 minutes and they weren't that busy at all. Some were even milling about which made it even worse for my temper. All the horror stories of the waits and such worried me. It's not right that they force you to use their bellman instead of letting people take care of their own things if they want to. I would think they'd welcome the help.

Now for the rooms- they are not worth the price tag. I think when you are paying $400 a night it is for the proximity to the Magic Kingdom and the outside tropical area of the resort, it is not for the rooms.

You are absolutely right about that. I love the Poly but in all honesty, you're paying for location, Location, LOCATION. ;)

Sorry to hear about the mess with bell services. I've never had an issue with them at the Poly at all but miscommunication does happen. However, it's extremely annoying when miscommunication results in a loss of your time while on vacation.

I'd definitely let Disney know in writing about what happened. :thumbsup2

sorry that you had such a bad experience with bell services. we were just there 5/7-5/13. after we checked in we went over the the bell services desk and they immediately drove us to our rental car in their golf cart to get our luggage and drove us to our room. we were in Tahiti. The room was very clean and did not appear worn at all. We have stayed in Fiji and Tokelau in the past and we prefer Tahiti for it's location to the TTC and it is a short, lovely walk to the pools and GCH.

luvmarypoppins,

Could you let me know how to use AA miles for WDW hotels, please? I've checked their website, but cant see how to do it.

Thanks!

You book it through american airlines vacations. You can do it on the website too. I know you check the box on the upper right side about using the advantage miles. After you check out what you want and you can do a room only they give you the balance due in cash minus the miles. It was too complicated, that is why my dh just called the toll free number. My dh is a million mile guy and we had 300,000 sitting around because we really dont use them for flights because what they offer you out of LGA is horrendous times and layovers etc. So we just blew what we had for 3 nights at the Polynesian and then we are going to the Yacht Club for 3 nights. Most people say its a waste of miles but since we arent using them for flights its definetely not a waste for us and our balance was zero but then we just got 16,500 because we were going to lose all our hilton points they said and we dont stay at hiltons too much anymore so we just swapped them for advantage miles. You have to know how to work the system. I know I am starting to go to the flyer talk website alot and I sign my dh up for everything I can.

Tiger luvs pooh- We actually drove the the MK. We arrived around 4:30. They got the luggage out of our car and said it would be delivered after we checked in. We checked in and went to the bell services desk and they wrote down our room number. We got our luggage around 7 that night. We called around 5:30 and they said they were on their way. Well 1 hour or so later we got it. We did not have to wait in line to be checked in. It did not appear to be busy. But I do know that 3:00 is prime check in time. I just don't think it should take anyone over two hours to get their luggage. It took about 45 minutes to get our luggage the next morning. It also took them 1 and 45 minutes to deliver the luggage to our new room. We called them to bring it around 6. We got it at 7:30. That was after we called back. The bell man that delivered the luggage said that they were not busy and that he had just got the message to deliver our luggage. So that was poor communication on their part. We had already tipped $35 for transporting and moving our luggage even though we had a lack in service. We did not want to wait all morning and tip again to get our luggage back to the car. I know when we stayed at Pop Century last year they let us use the luggage cart. In fact, my husband used it at check-in and check-out. So it suprised me that we could not use it again. Although I do understand that it can be a risk to let visitors use the cart. I do not know of number to call or email address to send a message about my issues with bell services or my room. If any one knows of one, let me know. I can say the the CMs we came in contact with were very nice.

I know what the OP is saying about the rooms. I love the grounds and the pool and main house. I have seen the pictures of the rooms and I am completely unimpressed. Never stayed here though I considerd it. The room pictures and price for what I see are keeping me away.
