Just returned from POR

We stayed at POR from 11/23 to 11/27. Check-in process was pretty quick, but disappointing. I had made these reservations months ahead using the Annual Pass. My requests were non-smoking, connecting and I listed two mansion buildings. The only request I received was non-smoking. I asked at check-in if any of the other requests were available and was told that they weren't. Truthfully, I haven't had luck with any of my requests in the past either. We ended up in Alligator Bayou in building 36 - pretty far away. The rooms were adequate but definitely not as clean as they could have been and no extras this time around - like animals, extra soap, shampoo etc. But as usual the overall park experience was great, but I would think twice about staying at POR again. I will definitely be calling ahead and confirming my requests and calling the hotel a few days ahead to confirm with them my requests.

Sorry it was disappointing for you in ways ... we're going there in July, and have requested a non-smoking room and will need the trundle. I always worry about not getting that trundle bed, but I think since we have 5 in our family they would have to have it for us. I guess it's harder at busier times for the resorts to honor all requests.

I'm sure you'll get your non-smoking and trundle - it just seems the other requests sometimes get lost in the process. I know it was a busy time and I should have called the hotel a few days ahead, but just got too busy getting ready and forgot. Still had a great time, but just a heads up for others going in the future. Even the desk person said in the future to call the hotel directly a few days out and let them know your important requests.

We stayed in AB building 34 with a trundle. I loved the location, because it is just down the path from the west depot bus stop. This was usually the first stop for the busses, so we always got on and seated. The walk to the food court does take about 10 min, but it never bothered us that much. The mousekeepers did a great job. We didn't get towel animals, but they did make towel hearts, fans and mickey ears. We would definately stay here again.

The important thing to remember is requests are just that...requests...and not guaranteed. Even calling ahead of time to 'confirm' the requests doesn't mean they'll all be filled, or that any will be filled.

Sorry you didn't get all you wanted, but IMHO at least the non-smoking was granted. To me, that would be the most important one.

Just keep in mind that even if you call ahead, they are still requests. There is no guarantee that you will get a certain room in a certain building with a certain view. And as far as not staying at POR because you didn't receive any extras, you know that those are not guaranteed either, right? Personally, I think the extras loose any charm if you expect them. Then they are not extras anymore.

OP I am sorry you didn't get your room that you requested. We checked in on the 28th and they said that the someone had booked a huge portion of the mansions. We had requested a non smoking king bed in the mansions and when we went to check in, found that they had put us in a non smoking room in AB28. I asked if there was any way they could find us a room in the mansions and the CM somewhat reluctantly finally put us in a corner room in Magnolia Bend. It was just my dh & I so I thought the mansions would be much more romantic. The whole resort is much more beautiful than I ever imagined.
