We just returned from an 8 day stay at POFQ and wanted to say it was a really wonderful resort. I found the room to be extremely well cleaned with towels, coffee, etc. replenished each day. Additionally there was some really charming surprise left by mousekeeping every couple of days. One day it was a basket made from washclothes, another day a bow was on the edge of the tub made from towels. After that a little holder was fashioned and our hairbrushes were placed in it. On Thanksgiving she made a little turkey and put it in the basket. There were a couple of days we had a different mousekeeper and nothing was done, so the days we had surprises were really neat. We loved the food court, it was always clean and my kids liked the fact they had a coloring station where there were crayons and pictures to color. Additionally, the food was really good and the prices were quite reasonable. We have stayed at CB and CS before POFQ and we all decided that we will stay at POFQ from now on. It was cozy and everything was within walking distance from the room, which was a switch from our last two stays in resorts that are much more spread out. All in all, our family gives this moderate resort four thumbs up! :teeth:

Thanks for the great report! :goodvibes: We are staying there for the first time beginning January 1st!!!! :cloud9:

Glad you had a good trip.

How old are your kids? Did you walk over to POR? I was wondering how long the walk took and if their food court is any better than the one at FQ?

Thanks again! :flower:

My kids are 12 and 18, and we did go over to POR but we ended up driving. After walking all over the parks I didn't dare ask the DH and kids to walk over to POR :rotfl: . I didn't end up going into the food court because the place was crowded and was a madhouse. I understand it is a 10-15 minute walk though. You can also just jump on the bus or take the boat over. The boat is really nice. We took that over to DTD at night and it was lovely. The Night Blooming Jasmine along the banks is very fragrant and all the lights make it look really beautiful. Our boat captain was very funny and entertaining on the trip over. You can also rent bikes to ride. They looked like they would be fun, and you could fit four people in them. We didn't do that, maybe next time....

We're staying there in Feb. Did they have mini fridge's in the room? What kind of food was at the food court? Thanks for the great report.

Yes, they do have mini fridge's in the room. The food at the food court was Cheeseburgers, Pizza (full and individual), pasta w/tomato sauce, Grilled Chicken Wrap w/homemade chips (excellent & big!), huge taco salad in an edible bowl (my daughter said it was delicious), chicken quesadillas (looked good, didn't get a chance to try), Chicken Caesar salad, chicken steak sandwich w/cheese, chicken tenders, kids' meals, various fresh fruit, juices, beignets (YUM!!), pastries, ice cream. There is other stuff I know I'm forgetting, but you get the general idea. The prices for kids' meals were $3.99 (the only one I remember was the chicken nuggets, fries, an applesauce). Everything else ranged from roughly $5.69-$7.50. I know the taco salad, chicken wrap, cheeseburger & fries were under $7.00. The food was very good and the portions were large.

We are leaving for POFQ on Wednesday. Thanks for the post. This will be our 1st xmas trip and our 1st time to POFQ. It is also a surprise trip to our 2 DD's(5&6). They are going to flip :earseek: when they hear where we are going. Never mind how different WDW will look with all the decorations. We are huge Christmas fans.

Oh, I adore the French Quarter. It is one of my all-time favorite resorts (and beats a few of the Deluxe Resorts in my humble opinion). I am so happy to hear that you fell in love with the place, too. It sounds like you had a lovely vacation. Welcome home!

We love POFQ also, and always stay there.

For the ones staying there for the first time, don't forget to take the boat to Downtown Disney. Also if you have the time explore POR it is our second favorite resort and the breakfast at Boatwrights (restaurant at POR) is so good.

Glad you had a great stay at POFQ! We will be staying here in Feb. :cool1:

I was wondering what building you were in and what floor you were on...

Also, was your location close to the parking area?

Thanks!

Do you know if there are swim-noodles at the pool? I *know* DD is going to want to swim, even during the first week of Jan. She's the kind of kid that gets out of IL's hottub to sit in the snow. :cold: :cold: :cold:

I will be there next August for a few days, glad to here you love it! I usually skip downtown Disney but think it may be worth hopping the boat! :sunny:

I didn't use it but my daughter loved it. She would go swimming and then go sit in the hot tub. It is very near the pool in a little alcove that is bordered by high shrubs and plantings. There are benches around it that you can sit on if you are just waiting for someone or don't want to go in.

We were in Building 1 on the 3rd floor. Our room faced the parking lot. Now that I am more familiar with it I would try to request building 3 which is next to the food court, etc. I would also like to have the first or even second floor if possible. After a number of long days in the park the climb up those stairs was killer, and the elevator was not conveniently located to our room so I just sucked it up and did the stairs.

I didn't see noodles but they have a large container of children's life vests right at the pool.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Can't wait til we get to POFQ!

Thanks--that info is really helpful! ;)

I have another question...did you use the hot tub?
We used it when we were there in November. It was NOT very hot, which is always disappointing to me--more like a "lukewarm" tub! :earboy2:

I was there at the same time. I love French Quarter. We were in Bldg 5 on the 1st Floor. I was on the opposite side of the bldg from the pool. It was VERY quiet and I was only a short walk around the corner to the river. I could never go back to value. I want to stay at the Wilderness Lodge once but for the money, I'll most likely often stay at French Quarter. In fact, we'll be there in February.

The first bus stop was genuinely a blessing. I almost felt bad for the Riverside folks trying to get on the bus. I also notice that some of the bus drivers forgot about all the different bus stops at Riverside. lol poor fellas!

Glad that you had a great trip! We are staying at this resort for the first time after many stays in the Budget hotels

We are leaving for POFQ in 2 days and I just called to ask for Building 5 first floor. I hope we get it. We would like to be close to the pool.

I had no idea they had a hot tub??? Is there also a playground there? And does the boat take you anywhere but DTD and POR? Thanks
